The San Francisco 49ers will meet with Myles Garrett in case the Cleveland Browns don't take him first overall as widely expected.

The 49ers own the second overall pick.

John Lynch was on hand for Garrett’s pro day workout in College Station, Texas, and seemed dutifully impressed that Garrett participated.

“I thought it was impressive,” Lynch said. “Here’s this kid who really doesn’t need to show everyone much more, but yet he shows up and runs a 40. I think it just speaks to the kind of kid he is. It was impressive. It’s well-documented – I’m not saying anything ground-breaking – he’s a special athlete.

“He checks all the boxes. That’s why people are talking about him in the way they are.”

The Cleveland Browns have ruled out trading the first overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft.

"No," Jackson said. "I can tell you no on that one."

The Browns are widely expected to draft Myles Garrett even though they're publicly non-committal. 

The Browns have Brock Osweiler, Cody Kessler and Kevin Hogan on the roster at quarterback.

The Cleveland Browns "aren't expected" to pursue a trade for Kirk Cousins despite rumors that they are interested in the quarterback, according to a report.

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer cited an unnamed league source in her report.

The Cleveland Browns may not have their starting quarterback yet and reportedly have interest in Geno Smith, who spent the last two seasons as a backup with the New York Jets.

Smith hasn't started and finished a game since the 2014 season.

The Los Angeles Chargers and New York Giants have expressed interest in Smith as a reserve.

Terrelle Pryor signed with Washington last week despite the lack of clarity at quarterback going forward.

Kirk Cousins is signed for 2017, but he reportedly asked for a trade and was rebuffed.

"I don't want to say it was my first priority because at the end of the day you want to be wanted," Pryor said. "You want to be with a team that wants you to be on the team. In Washington, they were very aggressive in terms of wanting me to be on the team. I played with six quarterbacks last year. I don't think it could get that bad. Obviously, I would like to play with Kirk (Cousins); I would be an idiot if I didn't believe that. I think he's a great quarterback and hopefully that's what happens."

Brock Osweiler says he has "no news" on the developments surrounding his trade to the Cleveland Browns last week.

The Browns acquired Osweiler's guaranteed $16 million salary for 2017, but have not assured the quarterback that he will remain with the team. Cleveland also acquired a second-round pick in the trade.

An Instagram post on the verified account of Jimmy Garoppolo saying farewell to New England sent social media buzzing, but a source believed it was a "prank" or "hoax."

The source added "not to my knowledge" when asked about a potential trade.

The Cleveland Browns have been linked to Garoppolo in a trade with the Patriots, but there reportedly have been no talks.

Despite trading for Brock Osweiler, the Cleveland Browns will still pursue a trade for Jimmy Garoppolo.

The Browns acquired a 2018 second rounder as part of the deal for Osweiler. Essentially, they moved up from the fourth-round to the second for $16 million --  the price of Osweiler's guaranteed contract.

The Browns have two first-round picks and two second-rounders this year, and now three second-round picks in 2018.

The Patriots will still want the Browns' No. 1 overall pick this year in exchange for Garoppolo and No. 12 doesn't interest them as much.

The Cleveland Browns have agreed to acquire Brock Osweiler from the Houston Texans.

Houston will send Osweiler, a second round pick and a sixth round pick to Cleveland for a fourth round pick.

The Browns will take on Osweiler's $16 million salary.

Cleveland also had interest in trading for Jimmy Garoppolo this offseason from the Patriots. Cleveland had over $100 million in cap space this offseason and in trading for Osweiler, they get someone to start this season while picking up an additional asset with the second round pick.

The Texans clear cap space with the deal as they pursue Tony Romo.

Kenny Britt and the Cleveland Browns have agreed upon a four-year, $32.5 million deal.

The contract will have $17 million in guaranteed money.

Britt's eighth season in the NFL was his most productive, as he finished 2016 with career highs in receptions (68) and receiving yards (1,002), becoming the Los Angeles Rams' first player in nine years to reach the 1,000-yard milestone.

Britt suffered a torn ACL early in 2011 and caused the Titans headaches with multiple off-field incidents that drew police attention.
