Eagles Trade Bunkley To Browns For Pick

May 17, 2014 9:51 PM

The Eagles have traded defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley to the Browns for a fifth-round pick next spring. Philadelphia drafted Buckley with the 14th overall pick back in 2006. The Eagles' acquisition of free agent defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins made Bunkley expendable and he will compete for a starting spot in Cleveland.

Robaire Smith Wants To Re-Sign With Cleveland

Aug 1, 2014 12:30 AM

Browns defensive end Robaire Smith, who will be an unrestricted free agent when the lockout ends, is participating in the team's informal workouts. "[Browns linebacker] Scott [Fujita] reached out to me a couple of weeks ago and asked me to come down and be a part of it, which I thought was great," said Smith. "I told him most definitely I'd be there for him, especially coming from a guy like Scott. It meant a lot to me personally. There was no way I was going to turn this down, an opportunity to come here and work out with these guys." Smith, heading into his 12th season, said he'd love to re-sign with the Browns if they're interested. "It's something I'm shooting for and that I'd love to do," he said. "[General Manager] Tom Heckert said before the lockout that they'd be interested, but they were waiting to see my medical report. It came out right before the lockout, so there wasn't too much they could say then."

Browns Plan To Add Running Back

Aug 1, 2014 12:30 AM

The Browns will be in the market for another running back when the NFL lockout ends, writes Terry Pluto of The Cleveland Plain Dealer. "I hear the Browns will look for another running back once free agency begins. The new coaches absolutely love what they saw of Montario Hardesty on film from his days at Tennessee. And Hardesty is supposed to be fully recovered from his knee surgery," Pluto writes. "But he does have a history of injuries and surgeries. The Browns don't want to risk him being hurt again and Peyton Hillis being worn down as he was at the end of last season."

Court OKs Bentley's Suit Against Browns

Nov 26, 2014 1:07 AM

An Ohio appeals court has ruled in favor of former Browns center LeCharles Bentley, saying the team can't force NFL arbitration to halt a lawsuit on the career-ending staph infection he says he contracted at the team's training facility. The Ohio 8th District Court of Appeals in Cleveland on Thursday upheld a Cuyahoga County judge's ruling, saying the issue is not related to the collective bargaining agreement and can be handled in county court. Bentley's attorney has said he nearly died from the infection he contracted while rehabbing from a knee injury at the team's suburban Berea facility.

Browns Appear Unlikely To Add Receiver

Oct 15, 2014 4:04 AM

The Browns don't appear likely to search for a wide receiver in free agency when the NFL lockout ends. "I don't see the Browns making a move on any receiver in free agency," writes Tony Grossi of The Cleveland Plain-Dealer. "They already have a cast of thousands at the position and have consistently expressed confidence in the receivers on their roster."
