Browns Take Quinn At No. 22 After Trade With Cowboys

Jun 29, 2014 1:17 PM

Brady Quinn's wish has been granted, although it didn't happen the way he expected. After paying a heavy price to the Cowboys for the 22nd overall pick, the Browns selected Quinn, Notre Dame's all-time passing leader, in Saturday's draft. The Cowboys received a first-round pick in 2008 and a second-round pick in this draft (36th overall) for the 22nd overall pick. Many expected the Browns to pick Quinn, who grew up in Dublin, Ohio and wanted to play for Cleveland, with the third overall pick in the draft. Instead, Browns general manager Phil Savage used that pick on Wisconsin tackle Joe Thomas. Twenty other teams also passed on selecting Quinn before the Browns made their trade with the Cowboys.

Draft Pivots On Cleveland Decision At 3?

Feb 20, 2014 4:52 AM

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr., in a national conference call Wednesday, said what the Browns do with the No. 3 selection of the April 28-29 NFL draft likely will determine whether Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn or Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson is available for the Vikings at No. 7. "One of those two is going to drop a bit because Cleveland can't take them both, and they're both in the mix for the Cleveland Browns," Kiper said. "So whoever you don't put to Cleveland, you drop down a bit. ... It's conceivable that either Quinn or Peterson could be down there in that 7-10 range." Of the two, Quinn is considered the more likely candidate to end up in Cleveland.

Cleveland To Ramp Up Pursuit Of Green

Jun 29, 2014 1:34 PM

The Browns are apparently ready to step up their pursuit of Chiefs quarterback Trent Green. Browns General Manager Phil Savage told WTAM AM/1100 on Thursday morning that the next step is to negotiate a "ballpark contract" for Green that would prompt him to want to come to Cleveland for a visit. Green's agent, Jim Steiner, declined to comment Thursday night on possible negotiations - but also didn't deny that they've begun.

Quinn Visits Browns Wearing Orange

Feb 9, 2014 11:48 AM

Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn dressed in a light orange shirt for his visit to the Browns. If he gets his wish, he'll soon have a matching orange helmet. Quinn, who grew up in Dublin, Ohio, has said he wants to play for the Browns, the team he rooted for as a kid. On Thursday, he spent a few hours touring the team's headquarters and interviewing with coaches. He arrived in Cleveland on Wednesday night and was taken to dinner by club officials. The Browns have the No. 3 pick in this month's draft, and they could use it to select Quinn, regarded as the second-best QB prospect behind LSU's JaMarcus Russell.
