Browns tight end Kellen Winslow underwent arthroscopic surgery Tuesday to remove scar tissue and repair cartilage damage in his right knee. Winslow, who injured the knee in a May 2005 motorcycle accident, was released from the Cleveland Clinic and is expected to make a full recovery. Team physician Dr. Anthony Miniaci performed the surgery.

Usually the one avoiding pressure, Troy Smith is putting the heat on the Cleveland Browns. Ohio State's Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback is lobbying his hometown team to select him in April's NFL draft, and he isn't missing any chance to remind the Browns that he'll be available to them soon.

After only two weeks on the job, Alabama assistant coach Steve Marshall has left to take a job with the NFL's Cleveland Browns. "It's a wonderful opportunity for Steve," Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said Sunday. "It's a shame that it didn't work out for him here, but I wish him well."

Rob Chudzinski did not want to wait to find out if the San Diego Chargers would promote him. Chudzinski on Saturday left the Chargers to become the offensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns.
