The Bengals have terminated the contract of running back Rudi Johnson, according to ESPN.com's John Clayton.
Peter Schaffer, Johnson's agent, confirmed that the Bengals notified him that his client will no longer be with the team. Johnson was in the fourth year of a five-year, $20.7 million contract.
Chris Perry is now the team's starting running back.

Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson has legally changed his last name to Ocho Cinco, according to Associated Press.
He legal name is now Chad Javon Ocho Cinco, a switch that became official this week.

A radio station in Miami, 790 The Ticket, has reported that the receiver has legally changed his last name to "Ocho Cinco." The reported name change has been rumored in NFL circles for weeks, but it is reportedly official now.
"A lot of people look at Chad Johnson and say he's crazy and he does a lot of stuff, but I don't think people really understand how smart I really am," Johnson said. "So come Sept. 7, I believe when we play the Baltimore Ravens, I think that's the game, there's a surprise for everybody -- for everybody. When I say something, it is what it is, just enjoy it. Because it's going to last 16 weeks, plus some more."

Henry is suspended by the NFL for the first four games of the 2008 season.
Rudi Expects To Be Traded
Cincinnati running back Rudi Johnson expects the team to follow through with a trade involving him, according to ESPN.com.
"It doesn't bother me one way or the other," Johnson said. "I'm still going to do the same thing. It's part of the business."
According to multiple reports, the Bengals have been shopping the Rudi since Chad Johnson's injury left the receiving corps depleted.
"It's always something every year," he added. "They've been trying to get me out of here for a long time now."
Lewis: Rudi Johnson Trade Talk 'A Rumor'
Bengals coach Marvin Lewis believes that trade talks involving running back Rudi Johnson are just rumors, according to Cincinnati Enquirer.
"It's a rumor," head coach Marvin Lewis said of the reports. "It makes no sense for me to confirm or deny anything involving a player."
Cincinnati is rumored to be shopping Johnson for a legitimate wide receiver, with Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh both banged up.
"They've been trying to get me out of here for a long time," Rudi Johnson said. "It's part of the league. It's part of the game."
Cincinnati Looking To Deal Rudi Johnson?
With the Bengals thin at wide receiver because of injuries, sources claim that they are offering Rudi Johnson in a trade for a legitimate receiver, according to ESPN.com.
The source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen, however, that head coach Marvin Lewis was "totally unaware" of any trade attempts, but he didn't rule out that president and general manager Mike Brown directed the calls.
"Who knows?" the source said. "Right now, a lot of teams are calling each other with all kinds of what-if trade scenarios."

The source also said that Johnson is expected to wear a harness, but may be able to avoid surgery and play this season.
