Sources: Bears 'Leaning Toward' Trading No. 1 Pick

Feb 27, 2023 8:44 AM

The Chicago Bears have been approached by a number of teams about trading the No. 1 overall pick and they are said to be "leaning toward" moving the selection, according to sources.

In January, Bears general manager Ryan Poles reaffirmed his commitment to quarterback Justin Fields, who they drafted 11th overall in 2021. He added that he'd have to be "blown away" to draft a quarterback prospect in April.

Since 1967, the No. 1 pick has been traded 12 times before the start of the NFL Draft.

Bears Purchase 326-Acre Arlington Park Property

Feb 16, 2023 8:36 AM

The Chicago Bears have taken another step toward leaving Soldier Field by announcing they have officially closed on its purchase of the 326-acre Arlington Park property.

The latest milestone for the Bears was delivered in an open letter from the team's Twitter account.

The Bears again stated that closing on the $197.2 million purchase does not guarantee the development of the team's plan for a domed stadium.

The team said the development in suburban Arlington Heights, Illinois, could create more than 48,000 jobs and generate $9.4 billion in economic impact for the Chicagoland economy.

The city of Chicago has made several attempts to keep the Bears at Soldier Field, where the team has played for the past 50 years.

Matt Nagy: Justin Fields Will Play In A Super Bowl

Feb 8, 2023 9:53 AM

Matt Nagy, who coached Justin Fields for one season as head coach of the Chicago Bears, believes the quarterback has a bright future.

"Without a doubt," Nagy replied when asked if Fields will play in a Super Bowl. "You all saw it this year, what he can do. He's going to continue to keep growing. However, you want to say it, whatever part of his game. To do what he did from his rookie year to this past year, it's only going to get better from here. He's wired the right way. I got to see him firsthand -- how he studies, how he practices, his passion for the game. He hates to lose. He's always been that way."

Fields is coming off of a career year in which he completed 60.4 percent of his passes for 2,242 yards, 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

He made his biggest impact on the ground, however, as Fields rushed for 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns.
