The 49ers have forfeited their fifth-round pick in next month?s NFL draft after commissioner Roger Goodell deemed them guilty of tampering with Chicago linebacker Lance Briggs, according to an Associated Press report.

It appears as though the Redskins, Buccaneers, and Bills are all interested in the services of free-agent wide receiver Bryant Johnson, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Talks between Johnson and the Bears cooled down because the former Arizona Cardinal has a rather steep asking price.

Free agent wide receiver Marty Booker is returning to his Chicago roots, according to Yahoo.com. Booker and the Bears agreed to a two-year contract on Tuesday. Financial terms were not disclosed. The 6-foot, 210-pound wideout is headed a back to the ?Windy City? where he began his career in 1999. Booker, who recorded a franchise single-season record 100 catches in 2001, will take the place of Bernard Berrian.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter is reporting that Tampa Bay has acquired Brian Griese from the Chicago Bears. Griese is an 11-year veteran who played with Bucs' Coach Jon Gruden in Tampa in 2004-05.

Bernard Berrian is leaving one NFC North team for another, as reported by Yahoo.com. The Vikings signed the fleet WR Berrian on Saturday, taking him away from the Bears. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the Chicago Tribune reported that the deal was for six years and included an estimated $16 million guaranteed.

Free-agent LB Lance Briggs re-signed with the Bears, agreeing to a six-year, $36M deal Saturday, as reported by the Associated Press. Agent Drew Rosenhaus said Briggs will earn $21.6M in salary through the first three years and the deal includes $13M in guaranteed bonuses.
