Ray McDonald Arrested On Domestic Violence Charge

Oct 1, 2014 4:09 AM

Ray McDonald has been arrested on domestic violence charges.

San Jose police Sgt. Heather Randol confirmed that McDonald, 29, was taken into custody early Sunday after officers responded to a call at 2:48 a.m. PT.

McDonald ranks second among San Francisco 49ers' defensive ends in sacks, snaps and tackles since 2011.

Under the league's newly implemented personal conduct policy, a first domestic-violence offense will result in a six-game ban and a second in a lifetime ban from the NFL.

NFL Changes Domestic Violence Standards, Lifetime Ban For 2nd Offense

Oct 1, 2014 12:51 PM

The NFL sent a letter to all owners today announcing new standards for domestic violence:

First offense: 6 games; Second offense: Lifetime ban.

"These disciplinary consequences apply to all NFL personnel," said the letter.

The NFL received considerable criticism for its two-game ban for Ray Rice.

"My disciplinary decision led the public to question our sincerity, our commitment and whether we understood the toll that domestic violence inflicts on so many families," said Roger Goodell in a statement. "I take responsibility both for the decision and for ensuring that our actions in the future properly reflect our values. I didn’t get it right."

Le'Veon Bell, LeGarrette Blount Faces Marijuana Charges

Sep 3, 2014 12:57 AM

Le'Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount will be charged with marijuana possession following a traffic stop the day the Pittsburgh Steelers flew to Philadelphia for their third preseason game.

Ross Township detective Brian Kohlhepp said traffic officer Sean Stafiej pulled over a Camaro operated by Bell around 1:30 p.m. after Stafiej, who was on a motorcycle, noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Stafiej found a 20 gram bag of marijuana inside the car. Bell, Blount and a female passenger all claimed ownership of the marijuana, according to police.

Bell, 22, was taken to a hospital to have blood drawn and is expected to be charged with driving under the influence of marijuana.

Bell and Blount have been close since the latter signed a two-year, $3.85 million contract as an unrestricted free agent with the Steelers in March.

Marshawn Lynch Cleared By Police Of Bogus Accusation

Sep 1, 2014 8:45 PM

Marshawn Lynch has been cleared of any involvement in an assault and property damage in a suburb of Seattle.

"The Bellevue Police Department has determined that Marshawn Lynch was not involved in this incident in any way," the department said in a statement. "The case remains an open and active investigation. We appreciate the cooperation we have received from Mr. Lynch and the Seahawks organization during this investigation."

The Bellevue PD had said Monday that Lynch was under investigation following an assault and property damage claim by an unnamed female.

The Seahawks called the accusation "bogus" in a one-sentence statement Tuesday.
