Goodell To Address Donald Sterling's Comments During Spring Meeting

Nov 27, 2014 4:04 AM

Roger Goodell will address the racist remarks made by Donald Sterling during the NFL's Spring Meeting on May 20th in Atlanta.

According to Rapoport, the Sterling issue will come up as a reminder regarding the culture and responsibility, as well as the respect one should have for teams, players, fans and media.

The NFL is dealing with an issue involving one of its owners in Jim Irsay's arrest on suspicion of intoxicated driving.

Aldon Smith May Only Face Misdemeanor For LAX Incident

Sep 26, 2014 2:04 PM

The Los Angeles County district attorney's office has referred Aldon Smith's airport arrest earlier this month to the Los Angeles city attorney's office for misdemeanor consideration.

Smith was arrested at LAX for making a fake bomb threat.

The 49ers declined to comment on Thursday's development because the case is pending.

Smith, 24, has a court appearance Tuesday on felony gun charges and a drunken driving charge in Santa Clara (Calif.) County. He also faces potential discipline from the league.

Aldon Smith Arrested For Alleged Bomb Threat At LAX

Oct 30, 2014 12:09 PM

Aldon Smith was arrested on Sunday at Los Angeles International Airport after claiming he had a bomb during a security screening.

Smith made the threat after he was randomly selected or a second screening.

"The suspect then became belligerent and uncooperative with the process and with the TSA agent, making a comment indicating that he was in possession of a bomb before proceeding toward the gate area," Sgt. Karla Ortiz said in a statement.

It was unclear whether Smith had been drinking alcohol, but it was "not relevant or a factor for his arrest and booking," Ortiz said.

Kaepernick, Others Being Investigated By Miami Police

Oct 30, 2014 12:09 PM

Colin Kaepernick is being investigated by Miami police for an incident earlier this month at a Miami hotel.

The police confirmed the investigation but would describe or categorize the nature of what they are looking into.

According to an incident report filed with Miami police on Friday, an unnamed woman said she had an encounter with Kaepernick, 49ers wide receiver Quinton Patton and Seattle Seahawks receiver Ricardo Lockette on April 1 at the Viceroy in downtown Miami. The woman told police she spent time with the three players, drinking and smoking marijuana in Lockette's apartment and eventually ending up in a bedroom with Kaepernick.

The report indicates that the woman told police she and Kaepernick undressed but did not have sex and that he eventually left the room. She told police she could not remember anything after Patton and Lockette opened the door to "peek" in the room.

TMZ.com reported earlier Thursday that Kaepernick is being investigated for an alleged sexual assault, citing law enforcement sources. Miami Police said that the site took the report out of context.

John Harbaugh Critical Of Offseason Rules

Oct 30, 2014 12:04 PM

John Harbaugh is an outspoken critical of the NFL's new rules in which coaches can't talk football with their players or even discuss the playbook until April 21 when the offseason program officially begins.

The players union wanted these limitations on offseason workouts because it protects players from coaches who annually pushed them in classrooms, conditioning and on-field sessions for nearly four months before training camps opened in late July.

"The management council and the players association have got to get together and help us as organizations and coaches help our young players develop as people and players," Harbaugh said last week at the NFL owners meetings. "I mean, come on. You hold us responsible and want us to be a factor in their lives like the mentoring program and things like that. Give us a chance."
