Murray met with the media on Saturday for the first time since Dec. 7, 2022, days before he injured his right knee against the New England Patriots on "Monday Night Football" in Week 14 of last season. Joe Burrow Carted Off Field With Calf Injury

Jul 27, 2023 10:50 PM

Joe Burrow was carted off the field with a non-contact injury to his right calf.

The early assessment is Burrow is dealing with a calf strain.

This is the third straight training camp that Burrow has dealt with an injury. In 2021, Burrow was recovering from a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee that ended his rookie season in 2020, when he entered the league during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year, Burrow suffered a ruptured appendix that required surgery days before the start of training camp.

Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals are in discussions on a contract extension.

Brock Purdy Cleared To Practice Coming Off Elbow Surgery

Jul 25, 2023 5:21 PM

Brock Purdy has been cleared to participate in practice for the San Francisco 49ers following his right elbow surgery in March.

"Brock is cleared and ready to go," John Lynch said. "Having said that, we're sticking and we're adhering to a plan that's been put in place for some time."

Purdy will be on a pitch count that includes two days of throwing and one day off.

Lynch said repeatedly throughout the offseason Purdy would be the "leader in the clubhouse" to start when healthy.

"He will [be with the starters] when he's out there," Shanahan said. "The throwing plan's a little different. We're never going to have him go three days in a row."

Trey Lance and Sam Arnold will alternate reps with the starting offense on days when Purdy is not practicing.

Kadarius Toney Undergoes Surgery For Partially Torn Meniscus

Jul 25, 2023 2:36 PM

Kadarius Toney had surgery to repair a partially torn meniscus in his knee on Tuesday morning.

"There's a chance for the first game,'' Reid said of a timeline for Toney's return. "We'll just have to see how the recovery goes with him. But I mean he's bound and determined he's going to be there for the first game. We'll see how it goes.

"I'm glad they caught it, that it happened this early where he can get himself back. We've got a lot of time still left. He's a smart kid so he picks his stuff up fairly easily. I don't think he's going to have a tough time getting back in. It's just [a matter of] getting back into football shape.''

Toney suffered the injury on Sunday.

The Chiefs last year traded a couple of draft picks for Toney, a first-round pick by the New York Giants in 2021.
