Jalen Hurts Underwent Minor Surgery On Ankle

Apr 18, 2023 10:43 PM

Jalen Hurts underwent surgery on his right ankle earlier this offseason.

The procedure was to remove "hardware" that had been inserted in the ankle after Hurts suffered a high ankle sprain while playing for the University of Alabama in an October 2018 game against Tennessee.

Surgery to remove the hardware took place in February and was considered minor.

Hurts will be a full participant in the Eagles' offseason training program that begins next week.

Patrick Mahomes Still Rehabbing High Ankle Sprain

Apr 17, 2023 10:50 PM

Patrick Mahomes said he is continuing to rehab his high ankle sprain.

"It's been more about just kind of managing it, getting the mobility back as best as I possibly can," Mahomes said Monday as the Chiefs began their offseason program. "I wouldn't say I'm 100%. ... It's just when you go through a grind of a week of training and you're trying to push it and go through the rehab process, but at the same time you want to make sure you're still building, you might be a little sore on the weekends. But I think we've done a great job of pushing it to the right limit to where now I'm throwing.

"There will still be a little bit of limitations going the next few weeks, but I'm going to be happy with where I'm at and we'll keep pushing it and getting me to the right spot before the beginning of the season."

Brock Purdy Looks Like He Has 'Robotic Arm' After Surgery

Apr 3, 2023 9:33 AM

It remains to be seen whether or not Brock Purdy will be ready for training camp after undergoing UCL surgery.

Purdy suffered the injury in the NFC Championship Game and could compete with Trey Lance and Sam Darnold for starter reps.

The second-year quarterback is wearing a large elbow brace designed to allow movement to ensure his arm retains mobility post-surgery. The young QB noted that the brace makes it appear he has a "robotic arm."

"When you first get in it after surgery, you're in it at 90 degrees. From there, you can start opening it up to help with your range of motion," Purdy said of the brace.

"It is just to keep your arm safe when you're out walking around or doing therapy. But at night, I can take it off and just do some normal motions with just looking at my arm."
