Seantrel Henderson Facing 10-Game Ban As He Treats Crohn's Disease

Nov 27, 2016 3:01 PM

Seantrel Henderson of the Buffalo Bills is facing a 10-game suspension for a second violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Henderson, 24, missed the first four games of the season for his initial violation of the substance abuse policy.

Henderson missed the final five games of last season after he was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Henderson's agent said the positive test was due to medical marijuana being used to treat the issue.

Henderson discussed medical marijuana use in treating Crohn's disease during an interview with the Buffalo News in October.

"I've got doctors telling me this is the No. 1 medicine that would help your disease," Henderson told the newspaper. "You try to tell that to the league, and it seems like they didn't care too much."

Ezekiel Elliott Accused Of Additional Domestic Violence Incident

Nov 5, 2016 7:02 PM

Ezekiel Elliott is accused of an additional domestic violence incident last February by the same woman who he allegedly abused last July.

An incident report obtained Friday from the Aventura (Fla.) Police Department said there were no visible signs of injury and that the accuser declined to go to the hospital after police responded to a call about an altercation at Elliott’s apartment Feb. 12.

It’s unclear whether the NFL, which continues to investigate the July allegations against Elliott that were reported to police in Columbus, Ohio, is aware of the previous allegation in Florida and whether it could influence a decision on potential discipline under the personal conduct policy, given the report was filed before Elliott was drafted in April.

In the report, Elliott is referred to as a friend “With Benefits” of the woman, who told authorities in Ohio in July that Elliott was her ex-boyfriend and they had lived together for three months.

NFL Players Believe Marijuana Would Reduce Chemical Painkillers

Nov 2, 2016 12:39 PM

A survey of NFL players shows that nearly two-thirds of them feel the use of chemical painkillers would be reduced if the league approved marijuana for the same use.

Marijuana is legal in 25 states and Washington, D.C., for medicinal purposes but remains one of eight drugs banned under the NFL's policy and program on substances of abuse.

ESPN.com's NFL Nation and ESPN The Magazine surveyed 226 players, asking them questions on the state of pain treatment in the league.

In the survey, 61 percent of players said they believed fewer players would take pain-killing shots such as Toradol if marijuana were a legal option. Toradol is the most common anti-inflammatory taken by NFL players, and 64 percent of the survey's respondents said they had taken an injection of it or another pain killer.

Marijuana has fewer known side effects than Toradol.
