Thomas Davis Suspended Two Games For Hit On Davante Adams

Dec 19, 2017 8:13 AM

The NFL has suspended Thomas Davis for two games for an illegal hit on Davante Adams during Sunday's game between the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers.

The linebacker plans to appeal the suspension.

"The league made a decision, you know, fortunately we have an appeals process we will go through that. Whatever happens from there, happens," Davis said.

Davis, leading with his helmet, hit a defenseless Adams as a teammate was returning an interception.

He was penalized for the hit but remained in the game.

Juju Smith-Schuster, George Iloka Receive One Game Suspensions

Dec 5, 2017 2:41 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and Cincinnati Bengals safety George Iloka were each suspended one game for hits in Monday's game.

Smith-Schuster was suspended for a vicious fourth-quarter block on Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict, who was deemed in the NFL's ruling to be in a defenseless posture.

"The contact you made with your opponent placed the opposing player at risk of serious injury and could have been avoided," NFL vice president of football operations Jon Runyan said in issuing the suspension. "Your conduct following the hit fell far below the high standards of sportsmanship expected of an NFL player."

Charles Johnson Suspended Four Games For PED Violation

Dec 1, 2017 3:23 PM

Charles Johnson has been suspended four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Johnson has started all 11 games this season for the Carolina Panthers. He has 16 tackles and no sacks.

"I accept full responsibility," Johnson said in a statement released by the team. "I have been recovering from back surgery, dealing with the daily grind of football and mistakenly thought this could help. It was an error in judgment on my part.

"We have a special group here I wanted to be a part of and felt an obligation to do my part by getting back as soon as possible. I have always prided myself on being a person who does things the right way, through hard work, dedication and sacrifice. I want to apologize to my team, Mr. [Jerry] Richardson and Panthers fans for this mistake. Regretfully, I have disappointed people, but I promise to come back ready to redeem myself when this suspension is over."
