Buccaneers Fan Rewarded For Ceding Tom Brady's 600th TD Ball

Oct 26, 2021 8:58 PM

Tom Brady said the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan who was kind enough to give back his 600th career touchdown ball that was thrown into the stands is going to "get something nice in return."

Byron Kennedy, who was sitting in the end zone when Mike Evans tossed the record-breaking ball into the stands, will receive two signed Brady jerseys, a helmet, another jersey autographed by Evans and Evans' game-worn cleats, according to a source.

The team is also providing a pair of season tickets for the remainder of 2021, all of 2022 and a $1,000 credit to the official team store.

Tom Brady Becomes First QB To Throw 600 TD Passes

Oct 25, 2021 8:49 AM

Tom Brady became the first quarterback in NFL history to reach 600 career touchdown passes in Sunday's 38-3 win over the Chicago Bears.

It happened with 10 seconds left in the first quarter on a 9-yard touchdown throw to Mike Evans.

Brady was greeted with a giant hug from Bruce Arians after the play, while Evans threw the ball to a fan in the stands, not realizing it was a record until Arians told him.

"I said, 'You're gonna have to go give that guy two jerseys to get that ball back,'" Arians joked. "I was like, either get two of Tom's [or two of yours] but you need to get that ball back for him. And he said, 'Does he really want that ball?' And I said, 'I'm betting he wants that ball.'"

A Tampa Bay Buccaneers official was able to retrieve the ball, giving the fan a different one.

"That was really cool. I got it in the bag over there," Brady said. "Mike gave it away. He goes, 'Man, I'm sorry, man. I'll get it.' I said, 'It's alright. I'm sure they'll find a way to get it back.' But I don't actually keep too many things so ... in that circumstance, I just felt like that might be a good one to keep.

"He's gonna get something nice in return. So we'll get him a helmet or a couple jerseys or some other stuff. That was really cool of him to do that."

Bruce Arians: Buccaneers Have No Interest In Trading Ronald Jones

Oct 21, 2021 9:21 AM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have no interest in trading Ronald Jones, according to Bruce Arians.

Speculation about Jones' status on the team has arisen as the November 2 deadline approaches.

"No, not at all," Arians said when asked about trading Jones. "It's a long season, and just that scenario that happened last year, and still with COVID -- you can't have enough good players."

Oct 13, 2021 9:21 AM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will remove Jon Gruden from the Buccaneers Ring of Honor.

The decision comes in the wake of Gruden resigning as Las Vegas Raiders head coach following the release of offensive emails.

"The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have advocated for purposeful change in the areas of race relations, gender equality, diversity and inclusion for many years," the team statement read.

"While we acknowledge Jon Gruden's contributions on the field, his actions go against our core values as an organization. Therefore, he will no longer continue to be a member of the Buccaneers Ring of Honor."

Thumb Injury Isn't Expected To Sideline Tom Brady

Oct 12, 2021 9:26 AM

Tom Brady is dealing with a thumb injury on his right throwing hand, but is expected to play through it against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night.

Brady did not give specifics on the injury, which he sustained early in Sunday's win over the Miami Dolphins. He ended up throwing for five touchdowns and 411 yards for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"He went through the full practice," Bruce Arians said. "Had we had a full-speed practice, he probably would have limited his throwing. But he looks like he'll be fine Thursday."

Tom Brady Overtakes Drew Brees As NFL's All-Time Yardage Leader

Oct 4, 2021 10:57 AM

Tom Brady broke the NFL's all-time passing yardage mark at Gillette Stadium on Sunday night.

With 80,291 career passing yards heading into the game against the New England Patriots -- his first trip back to Foxborough since his departure in 2020 -- Brady needed 68 more to eclipse Drew Brees' 80,358.

Brady broke the record with a 28-yard completion to Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans in the first quarter.

"I just think it's an amazing statistic in that so many people can share in it with me," Brady said. "Quarterback doesn't throw and catch. Quarterback can just throw it. It's yards. Passing yards have to be caught, so I just hope that everybody who caught passes from me over the years just had a little smile on their face tonight knowing they contributed to a very cool record.

"There are some people who have kind of preceded it by name. Drew Brees, who I look up to, is a hell of a guy, great player. Peyton Manning -- one of my all-time favorites -- Brett Favre, Dan Marino, but obviously, my teammates who caught all these passes over the years mean an awful lot to me."

Tom Brady, Bill Belichick Met Privately After Bucs' Win

Oct 5, 2021 8:59 AM

Bill Belichick visited Tom Brady in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' locker room after what the quarterback described as a "very emotional week" in New England.

The Buccaneers defeated the Patriots 19-17 in a tight game at Gillette Stadium on Sunday night. On the field, the pair shared a quick embrace.

Belichick was seen walking into the visitors locker room, and it wasn't until about 20 minutes later that he exited, soon followed by Brady. Belichick reached out to arrange the meeting with Brady leading into the game, according to a source.

"We've had a personal relationship for 20-plus years. He drafted me here. We had a lot of personal conversations that should remain that way. They're very private," Brady said.

"I would say, so much is made of our relationship. ... Nothing is really accurate that I ever see. It definitely doesn't come from my personal feelings or beliefs."

Tom Brady: Breakup With Patriots Handled 'Perfectly'

Oct 1, 2021 5:59 PM

Tom Brady believes his breakup with the New England Patriots 18 months ago was handled "perfectly" and that "things worked out the best" for all involved.

Brady's comments came a day after Bill Belichick denied a passage in a soon-to-be released book stating that the New England Patriots coach refused to meet with the quarterback in person before Brady left New England to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in March 2020.

"All those things are super personal," Brady said. "We had a great relationship. Everything was handled the right way. We handled everything as gracefully as we could. It was an amazing time, it was handled perfectly. I think everyone understood where we were at -- the people involved in the situation. Things worked out the best for all of us.

"We're all trying to do the best we can do now -- that's what happens in life. You don't know where life is gonna lead. I think the only thing I know how to do is give it all I can in every day, every moment and the people who really bet on me, I want to do really well for them. [General manager] Jason [Licht] and [head coach] Bruce Arians -- with them coming into my life, and saying, 'Hey, we really want you here' -- it's been an amazing thing for me."
