K.J. Wright, Seahawks Discuss Reunion

May 9, 2022 7:57 AM

The Seattle Seahawks and K.J. Wright have discussed a reunion. Wright spent last season with the Las Vegas Raiders.

"I want to go back home," Wright told Trey Wingo on the "Half-Forgotten History" podcast last week. "I think it's that simple. Seattle knows that I want to come back. They know how much they mean to me."

Pete Carroll was asked about Wright's comments Sunday after the team concluded its three-day rookie minicamp.

"I love K.J.," Carroll said. "I've already talked to him about stuff for the future and all that. I did hear that he talked about playing, and we've already talked about that."

Pete Carroll: Seahawks Not Planning To Trade For Quarterback

May 6, 2022 7:17 AM

Pete Carroll said Thursday that he doesn't "at all" envision the Seattle Seahawks trading for a quarterback.

Carroll was not asked specifically about Baker Mayfield -- organizations aren't allowed to publicly comment on potential interest in players on other teams -- but instead whether the Seahawks are interested in adding a veteran quarterback with starting experience.

"We're always competing," Carroll said, giving one of his stock responses to such questions. "I'm not saying anything you didn't think I was going to say, but fortunately that's always been the way we've operated, and it fits again. So we're looking. I don't see us making a trade for anybody at all. I don't see that happening. But we're certainly going to continue to be open to chances to help our club, and meanwhile we're just going to be battling and competing our tails off. There's always possibilities, so we keep open to that."

The Seahawks have Geno Smith and Drew Lock in the quarterback room, leading to speculation the franchise can use a major upgrade. The Seahawks traded away Russell Wilson this offseason.

Seahawks 'Happy With' Quarterbacks After Not Drafting One

May 2, 2022 8:35 AM

The Seattle Seahawks opted not to take a quarterback with any of their nine selections in this year's draft.

With three weeks until OTAs begin, the Seahawks have Geno Smith, Drew Lock and Jacob Eason at quarterback.

"We're always competing. That's all we know how to do around here. We're always checking out everything that's possible," Pete Carroll told NFL Network. "Right now, really excited about seeing these guys for the first time and we'll see what happens in the time to come. We're always competing. We're always looking."

Pressed on whether Seattle expects to go from "looking" to "adding" in the near future, Carroll reiterated, "Nothing's gonna change that quick. We're really happy with the guys we've got, to see them battle, and we'll see what happens. You never know what's going on down the road. We're always looking."
