DK Metcalf: 'It's My Time In Seattle' To Lead

Mar 25, 2022 9:20 AM

With Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner gone, DK Metcalf is ready to accept a leadership role with the Seattle Seahawks.

"I'm going into Year 4, and I think it's time for me to step up and be a leader," the wide receiver said. "It's my time in Seattle now. That's the way I look at it."

Metcalf added that he prefers to lead by example more than vocally.

"With Russ and Bobby there, it gave me more time to joke around ... in my eyes, I was able to take a back seat because we already had our designated leaders there," he said. "But now, since I've been trying to run from it for so long, God was like, 'Naw, I'm going to throw you in that fire early, see how you take it.'"

Quandre Diggs: Seahawks 'Not In A Rebuild Mode'

Mar 24, 2022 9:06 AM

The Seattle Seahawks have moved on from Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner, but they still expect to contend.

Quandre Diggs re-signed with the Seahawks on a three-year, $40 million deal.

"It's always tough to see a guy like Russ go," the safety said. "It's the business at NFL and you see Russ and Bobby go and it's just like, 'Sheesh, what mode are we in?' Being able to talk to Pete, being able to understand that we're not in a rebuild mode, we're trying to get this thing back rolling, build a team differently a little bit. Like I said, sucks to see those guys go. Two big leaders, two big guys that's played a critical part of my career. Sucks to see them go, but for me, I had to make a decision based on myself, myself and my family."

Seahawks Assert Russell Wilson Sought Trade

Mar 16, 2022 5:14 PM

The Seattle Seahawks asserted it was Russell Wilson who requested his eventual trade to the Denver Broncos rather than it be something the team preferred.

"While Russell made it clear he wanted this change, he made Seattle proud and we are grateful for his decade of leadership on and off the field," said Jody Allen, chair of the Seahawks. "We look forward to welcoming our new players and to everyone being fully engaged while working our hardest to win every single day. I trust our leadership to take us into the future, and know we all wish Russell the very best."

"This has always been a challenging time of year where we have consistently maintained a competitive approach to getting better as a team," said Pete Carroll. "As Jody stated, Russ' desire in doing something different afforded the organization an opportunity to compete in multiple ways. He has always been the ultimate competitor whose leadership and consistency helped shape our culture. Our franchise has won a lot of games and we will always be grateful for the exciting moments and incredible records."

Said general manager John Schneider, "Russell has been a tremendous player, leader, and member of our organization since the day we drafted him in the third round in 2012. His tireless work ethic has helped make him one of the most successful QBs in NFL history and we thank him for his many contributions on the field and in the community.

"When it became evident that Russell was interested in playing elsewhere, we used that opportunity to explore the market, allowing us to acquire three quality players, tremendous draft capital, and create salary cap flexibility. We have a clear vision about the direction of this team, and this is an exciting time for our organization."

Mar 14, 2022 8:40 AM

Colin Kaepernick is looking to return to the NFL and is seeking receivers to catch his passes.

Kaepernick last played an NFL game in 2016.

On Sunday, the quarterback wrote on Twitter: "For The past 5 years I've been working out and staying ready in case an opportunity to play presented itself. I'm really grateful to my trainer, who I've been throwing to all this time. But man, do I miss throwing to professional route runners. Who's working?? I will pull up."

Tyler Lockett quickly volunteered and Kaepernick responded, saying he'll coordinate with him. It wasn't immediately known where they will get together.

The Seattle Seahawks are expected to add a quarterback after trading Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos last week.
