Geno Smith Dedicates Win Over Giants To Ben McAdoo, Jerry Reese

Oct 31, 2022 8:41 AM

Geno Smith led the Seattle Seahawks to a 27-13 win over the New York Giants on Sunday.

After the game, Smith was asked whether he feels any sense of revenge in beating the Giants considering how he was treated during his lone season with the team in 2017, when he took over for Eli Manning late in the year only for the team to reverse course one week later and reinsert Manning as their starter.

Smith said "not at all" and instead took the opportunity to show his gratitude to Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese, at the time the Giants head coach and general manager, respectively.

"I'm happy to be here in Seattle," Smith said. "I spent one year with the Giants. That year to me was like a blur and my life has moved on from them. I don't have any remorse towards anyone there. In fact, to me, this game was for Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese. They believed in me. So as far as any other thing, I don't really care for it. I'm happy to be here in Seattle. It's like a family here. It feels like home. And so I'm just enjoying my time here and continuing to work hard with these guys and just trying to be the best we can be."

Pete Carroll: NFL Needs To 'Seriously' Look Into Grass-Turf Debate

Oct 27, 2022 8:11 AM

Pete Carroll and Seattle Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs would like to see a close reexamination of whether NFL stadiums should exclusively use natural grass.

The ongoing conversation about the safety of playing on artificial turf versus natural grass has been brought back up after DK Metcalf and J.C. Jackson suffered knee injuries during Sunday's game at SoFi Stadium, both on noncontact plays.

L.A.'s SoFi Stadium, home of the Chargers and the Rams, uses an artificial surface.

"I think we definitely need to look at this really seriously in the offseason again," Carroll said when asked about the grass-turf debate. "It's been a discussion before. We've got to do what's right, and we've got to do what's safest for the players and we've got to make those choices. I would pound on the drum for that."

Fourteen of the NFL's 30 stadiums use an artificial surface, including the Seahawks' Lumen Field.

"So you see that and you just kind of wonder why can't we have natural grass everywhere," Diggs said. "I love playing in San Francisco and things like that where it's grass and you just go out there and you just go play. Hopefully, we're doing some research on it and seeing what we can do to make things better."
