Seahawks Fire Defensive Coordinator Ken Norton Jr.

Jan 19, 2022 8:47 AM

The Seattle Seahawks have fired defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. and defensive passing game coordinator Andre Curtis.

Seattle has already begun its search for a new defensive coordinator, requesting permission to speak with Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Ed Donatell.

"Defensively, we didn't start fast enough in this season again," Carroll told 710 ESPN Seattle a day after the Seahawks' season finale. "That's two times in a row we didn't start fast enough, and we found ourselves and put up some good numbers that indicate how you're playing. Just all of that just didn't happen soon enough."

Russell Wilson, 'ManningCast' Agreed Not To Discuss Seahawks

Jan 19, 2022 11:56 AM

Russell Wilson was the final guest on the final episode of the inaugural "ManningCast" during Monday night's playoff game between the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams.

Wilson didn't field a single question about his future with the Seattle Seahawks while talking with Peyton and Eli Manning.

That's because, according to a report, Wilson and the "ManningCast" team had an agreement to avoid discussing Seahawks drama.

Seahawks 'Good To Go' With Pete Carroll As Head Coach In 2022

Jan 17, 2022 5:19 PM

The job security of Pete Carroll as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks was not discussed during a routine end-of-season meeting with Jody Allen and John Schneider.

The Seahawks had their first losing season since 2011.

According to a source, the Seahawks are all systems go with Carroll, Schneider and Russell Wilson moving forward.

Carroll expressed his expectation at the end of the season that he would be back in 2022, answering "no" when asked whether there's any question in his mind about his future with the team.

Russell Wilson Will Explore His Options In Offseason

Jan 17, 2022 1:45 PM

Russell Wilson wants to explore his options during the offseason, sources tell NFL Media.

Wilson has not demanded a trade and it is unclear if he plans to do so. In one of his final press conferences of the year, Wilson said his hope is to stay in Seattle.

Those close to Wilson say he wants to investigate other destinations that would potentially put him in a better position to win another Super Bowl.

General manager John Schneider, head coach Pete Carroll and owner Jody Allen met late this week to discuss the future in their regular end-of-season meeting.

Last year, Wilson's agent made public four teams he would consider a trade to.

Pete Carroll Expects To Remain With Seahawks In 2022

Jan 10, 2022 9:41 AM

Following the Seattle Seahawks' 38-30 win over the Arizona Cardinals to close out a 7-10 season, Pete Carroll was asked if there's any question on whether he will return as head coach.

"No," he said. "I'm in great shape."

Carroll is under contract through 2025 after signing a five-year extension in 2020.

Carroll was asked what his conversations will be like with Jody Allen in the coming days.

"Like we've always had," Carroll said. "Really pointed at figuring things out. She's very analytical and she wants to make sure that we're doing everything that we can possibly do to get everything right. She's a terrifically completive person in that regard and she doesn't want any stone unturned. Exactly the way I look at it. I just feel so connected to that thought that that's what we do, but to have your owner talk that same way, that's a competitive perspective.

"It goes back to the old line we used to have: We're in a relentless pursuit of finding a competitive edge in everything we're doing. That's what is. That's what she represents. So we'll try to do a great job of exchanging the information and setting the course for making sure that we give ourselves the best chance to be champions."

Russell Wilson: Goal Is To Win More Super Bowls With Seahawks

Jan 8, 2022 12:41 PM

Russell Wilson was asked Thursday why he hasn't closed the door on talk of his possible departure from the Seattle Seahawks after this season.

"My goal is to win more Super Bowls, and my plan is to win them here," Wilson said. "It's that simple. There's nothing really else other than that."

Before the Seahawks' final home game of the season last week, the quarterback said, "I hope it's not my last game (in Seattle). But at the same time, I know it won't be my last game in the NFL."

Wilson ended his Thursday media availability by reiterating he wants to stay in Seattle.

"We've always thought I would be here," he said. "That's been always my goal — to win multiple Super Bowls, and my plan is to be here and do that. You take every day and you just enjoy the moment."

Bobby Wagner Optimistic He'll Remain With Seahawks

Jan 6, 2022 9:08 AM

Bobby Wagner says he has "a lot of optimism" that he'll return to the Seattle Seahawks next season.

Last week Wagner acknowledged an uncertain future with the franchise.

The Seahawks' defensive captain and longest-tenured player (along with Russell Wilson) said there's "obviously" going to be some changes on the heels of Seattle suffering double-digit losses for the first time since 2009 and added, "Whether or not I'm part of those changes, I don't know."

On Wednesday, Wagner was asked if that uncertainty has given him any more incentive to play Sunday despite a sprained knee.

"Not really, because in my mind I don't feel like this is my last time," he said. "I don't feel like this is my last time putting on a Seahawks uniform. I don't feel like this is my last time doing that. I understand there is a business side to this, but there is a lot of optimism on my end that I'll be back. So I'm not worried about it. Obviously, I can't control everything. I can only control my part. And my part on this is I feel like I love this city. I love this team. I love the Seahawks. So I always wanted to be a part of a franchise's good times and bad times and every time. So this is a team that I would love to be able to be a part of for a very, very long time.

"So on my end, that's where I'm at, that I'm a Seahawk until they tell me I'm not. So that's my mindset. So I don't see it as that was my last game or this next game could be my next game."

Speculation Increases Pete Carroll Or Russell Wilson To Leave Seattle

Jan 3, 2022 9:40 AM

There is a feeling across the NFL that Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson will not be together again with the Seattle Seahawks next season.

There are many directions the organization can go after this season, its worst in more than a decade. There was constant speculation last offseason that Wilson could be traded, and multiple sources expect the same level of speculation this offseason.

Carroll is under contract through 2025 and is the oldest head coach in the NFL.

Some sources believe John Schneider is open to starting anew with added draft picks, but he also knows the value of a quarterback like Wilson.
