Wilson Confident In Makeshift O-Line Against Watt, Texans

Oct 7, 2014 1:09 PM

Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks will face J.J. Watt and the Houston Texans on Sunday with a makeshift offensive line.

“I think we’ll do a great job,” Wilson said. “They’re obviously a very talented defense, and it all starts with J.J. and his ability to get to the quarterback and makes plays. We’re going to have to play our best football and step up to the challenge on the road.”

Paul McQuistan will start at left tackle for Russell Okung, while rookie Michael Bowie will start at right tackle.

“People love J.J. at Wisconsin,” Wilson said. “I remember at the Pro Bowl last year, J.J. and I were talking at dinner. He said, ‘Man, if I had stayed for my senior year we probably would have won the national championship.’”

Kaepernick Struggles When Pressure Comes From Right

Dec 14, 2014 3:00 PM

The Seattle Seahawks have found a formula in limiting Colin Kaepernick's effectiveness.

The Seahawks repeatedly forced Kaepernick to stay in the pocket and pressured him from the right.

In pressuring him from that side, Kaepernick is forced to run to his left, creating a harder throw for a right-handed quarterback to complete.

Seahawks 19.5 Favorites Against Jags, 10th Largest Spread In History

Dec 12, 2014 2:25 AM

The Seattle Seahawks are a 19.5-point favorite this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The spread is the 10th largest in NFL history.

The biggest spread in recent seasons is when the New England Patriots were 20.5 favorites over the Indianapolis Colts in 2011.

The Jaguars are considered by many to be the worst team in the NFL, while the Seahawks are a Super Bowl favorite.

Carroll Disappointed With Seahawks' Efficiency On Offense

Jul 8, 2014 11:53 PM

The Seattle Seahawks are 2-0 and are widely considered the best team in the NFL right now, but their offense hasn't been as sharp as Pete Carroll has been hoping.

“I’m kind of concerned overall on offense that we just aren’t as sharp as we need to be,” Carroll said. “We addressed it [Monday] as far as details and doing things right. We’re just not as clean as we want to be.

“There’s a lot of potential to be shown. Our efficiency isn’t where we want it. We had too many negative plays [Sunday]. I’m a little disappointed in that, because we thought we came out of camp a little better.”

Penalties have been an issue for the Seahawks on offense, with six holds against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2.

The Seahawks are the top ranked team in the NFL by RealGM's Trench Counter.

Seahawks Limited Kaepernick By Taking Away Easy Options

Oct 31, 2014 7:23 AM

The Seattle Seahawks had a fairly simple plan in containing Colin Kaepernick in sending only a base pass rush to not give him easy options to receivers.

The Seahawks blitzed just five times on 35 drop-backs, resulting in one scramble and a passing line of 3-for-4 for 45 yards.

When they sent their base pass rush, Kaepernick was 10-for-24 for 82 yards, three interceptions and all three of Seattle's sacks.

The San Francisco 49ers' receivers were unable to create separation against the Seahawks' secondary.

Sherman: Sportsmanship Doesn't Go Both Ways With Harbaugh

Oct 27, 2014 3:46 PM

Jim Harbaugh snubbed former Stanford player Richard Sherman following the Seattle Seahawks' 29-3 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Sherman ran up to Harbaugh at midfield and gave him a pat on the rear.

"I told him good job, good game, but he didn't give me nothing back," Sherman told NFL Network. "I guess sportsmanship doesn't go both ways."

Sherman said in July that he no longer has a relationship with Harbaugh.

"I didn't realize it was him until he was moving in the other direction," Harbaugh said, according to NFL.com. "He came up and patted me on the back, and I congratulated him, and same with Doug [Baldwin]. I congratulate the Seahawks, they played a hell of a game."

Seahawks' Defense Dominates In 29-3 Win Over 49ers (+19.4 TC, +22 TRC)

Oct 15, 2014 6:38 PM

The Seattle Seahawks defeated the San Francisco 49ers 29-3 in a game in which the home team completely dominated on defense, yet wasn't as much of a blowout as the final score indicated.

The Seahawks had a +19.4 advantage in the Trench Counter, averaging the same number of yards per play but they won the first down column 19-12, turnover yardage 84-121 and turnovers 1-5. The Seahawks also had a +22 edge in Total Rushes/Completions, rushing 47 times.

The Seahawks' defense was outstanding, intercepting Colin Kaepernick three times while also forcing him to fumble once. The 49ers' receivers were unable to create any separation and their offense was mainly reliant on the scrambling of Kaepernick.

Kaepernick finished the game 13-for-28 for 127 yards while rushing nine times for 87 yards. Frank Gore managed just 16 yards on nine carries, while Anquan Boldin was shutdown by Richard Sherman.

Russell Wilson was out of sync in the first half and finished 8-for-19 for one touchdown and one interception as the Seahawks relied on a heavy dose of Marshawn Lynch. Lynch carried 28 times for 98 yards and two touchdowns while adding three receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown.
