The NFL has converged on New York City for the first round of the 2013 draft. Without two sure-fire picks, as we saw last season with Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III, there promises to be a lot of drama on Thursday night.

Trades

The Oakland Raiders traded the third overall pick to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for the 12th and 42nd overall selections.

The Buffalo Bills traded the eighth and 71st overall pick to the St. Louis Rams in exchange for the 16th, 46th, 78th and 222nd overall selections.

The 49ers traded the No. 31 and No. 74 pick to the Cowboys for the No. 18 pick.

The Falcons traded the No. 30 pick and a sixth rounder to the Rams to acquire No. 22 and a seventh rounder in 2015.

The Vikings have acquired the No. 29 pick from the Patriots for the No. 52, No. 83, No. 102 and No. 229 selections.

The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to a one-year deal with cornerback Antonie Winfield.

The deal is worth $3 million, according to a source.

"It was a very tough decision for me because of the relationships that I have in Minnesota," Winfield said. "I've been there nine years. I've had some really great coaches, teammates and fans there. I'm very grateful to the Vikings organization for my experience.

"I'm definitely excited about the opportunity to play in Seattle. They're a great football team. Those guys did an excellent job last season. They're young, athletic and energetic. I'm excited to play with Richard (Sherman), Brandon (Browner), Kam (Chancellor) and Earl (Thomas) because they're some of the most talented players on defense in the NFL right now."

The Seattle Seahawks are close to a contract agreement with cornerback Antoine Winfield, according to sources.

Winfield, who will turn 36 this season, was surprised when the Minnesota Vikings released him last month.

Nick Saban has hosted several NFL coaches this offseason as defenses learn how to best stop the zone-read offense.

The San Francisco 49ers, Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks all used elements of the zone-read last season.

Saban said the NFL is a pass rush-oriented league and that the zone-read sets up to exploit overpursuing defenses.

Saban also said that the 49ers have run the zone-read the best because of how they vary their looks so frequently.

The Seattle Seahawks have signed Brady Quinn to serve as their backup quarterback.

Quinn, Matt Leinart, Tyler Thigpen and Seneca Wallace threw for Seattle's coaching staff on Monday.

He spent last season with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Seattle Seahawks are scheduled to have Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn in for a workout.

The pair will join previously reported backup candidates Seneca Wallace and Tyler Thigpen.

The Seattle Seahawks have a strong cornerback tandem, but they are still expected to host Antoine Winfield for a free-agent visit.

Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that cornerback Antoine Winfield is expected to meet with the Seahawks this week.

The Oakland Raiders have acquired Matt Flynn from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2014 and a conditional one in 2015.

Both teams announced that the trade had been finalized Monday afternoon.
