Golden Tate described the suspensions of Walter Thurmond and Brandon Browner for substance abuse as "selfish."
"Everyone should realize where this team is," Tate said Tuesday on 710 ESPN radio in Seattle. "You are affecting way more than yourself. I feel like that was kind of a selfish move on both those guys' part.
"But it is what it is. The show must go on and that's what we're gonna do."
Thurmond will be eligible to return on Dec. 23, while Browner is out for a year.
"We dealt with it today," Pete Carroll said after practice. "We talked about it in meetings and made sure we owned up to it. We'll take care of business. This team is very strong about where we're going and what we're doing. Just because someone slips doesn't mean we're not on track.
"We're very disappointed those guys will not be able to play with us. It's kind of how it goes at times. I don't know that we can expect to be perfect. We'd like to be, but that isn't the case. You want guys to be on point, but sometimes you're going to be disappointed. It's not about what pops up, it's about how you deal with it and overcome it."
At various points over the past year, Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick and Robert Griffin III have taken the mantle as the best young quarterback in the NFL.
The viewpoints in the media seem to be largely based on wins and losses.
"I think it is unfair to these guys almost to keep their stock report based on wins and losses or what they did last week," a general manager said recently.
Wilson is only trailing Peyton Manning in passer rating and QBR since Week 8 of last season.
"I think Luck is ahead of the others," the GM said. "Russell will never be able to close the gap on that one. Part of it is, just genetically, he cannot see over the line sometimes. But all these guys have strengths and weaknesses. Kaepernick is still about the same guy from last year, but last year he made big plays running. It naturally becomes an emotional assessment of these guys. All these guys are young. I always laugh when a guy is a year-and-a-half in and we're like, 'Is it time?' Really? You're going to make a change? Everyone will go through a slump."
Brandon Browner is facing a year-long suspension for using banned substances.
Browner is believed to have been tested for marijuana.
NFL.com originally reported the suspension was for performance enhancing drugs.
Browner is a free agent at the end of the season and his tenure with the Seattle Seahawks is likely over.
The Seattle Seahawks have reached out to Antoine Winfield about coming out of retirement to return to the team.
The Seahawks will be without Walter Thurmond for a four-game suspension, while Brandon Browner is out with a groin injury.
The Seattle Seahawks are the new favorites to win Super Bowl XLVIII at 3/1.
The Denver Broncos trail at 7/2, while both the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints are at 13/2.
The Carolina Panthers, winners of seven straight games, have 10/1 odds.
Walter Thurmond will drop his appeal on his four-game suspension for violating the NFL's non-PED violation.
The Seahawks are already without Brandon Browner for four to six weeks, meaning the loss of Thurmond further decimates their secondary.
The Seahawks are 10-1 but enter the toughest part of their schedule with games upcoming against the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers.
The Seattle Seahawks have activated Russell Okung from short-term injured reserved.
Okung, starting left tackle for the Seahawks, suffered a partially torn plantar plate in his toe in Week 2.
The Seahawks have had to piece together a makeshift offensive line to protect Russell Wilson as they have also been without right tackle Breno Giacomini and center Max Unger.
Percy Harvin is expected to make his regular season debut next Sunday for the Seattle Seahawks against his former team in the Minnesota Vikings.
Harvin had major hip surgery on Aug. 1 to repair a torn labrum.
Pete Carroll said that Harvin is progressing nicely in his rehab.
The Seahawks gave Harvin a five-year, $67 million contract after acquiring him from the Vikings.
The Seattle Seahawks have allowed at least 200 yards rushing in their last two games, giving up big performances to Zac Stacy and Mike James.
"Three weeks ago, we gave up 30 yards rushing [at Arizona] and then we jumped off the cliff here in the 200s," Pete Carroll said. "So I think we'll get decidedly better. We're really tuned in. The players take a lot of pride in it, as well, and we all have to do better, from myself on down. So we are going to work really hard to get that done."
For the season, the Seahawks rank 19th against the run and second against the pass.
