Kolb Expected To Land In Arizona Or Seattle

Sep 21, 2014 10:08 AM

Jason La Canfora of NFL.com believes that Philadelphia's Kevin Kolb is the quarterback most likely to be traded once the league year resumes. "It's go West young man. Most of the people I talk to in the league believe it's a two-horse race between Arizona and Seattle," La Canfora writes. "The Eagles want first-round compensation, and if the market bears only a second and a little something else, then sources say there is a very real chance Philly holds on to him as insurance for 2011. Ultimately, I think they get the first-round pick for him, though. If not, he stays."

An Upset If Seahawks Don't Sign Leinart?

Sep 21, 2014 10:08 AM

Dan Pompei of The National Football Post fully expects the Seahawks to sign free-agent quarterback Matt Leinart once the NFL lockout is solved. "...it would almost be an upset if the Seahawks didn't sign Matt Leinart to come in as a backup," Pompei writes. "The Seahawks might not be crazy about what they have seen of Leinart on tape, but coach Pete Carroll has won a lot of games with him, and he thinks he can win some more."

Hasselbeck Offered $7M By Seahawks

Jul 1, 2014 2:56 AM

The Seahawks offered veteran quarterback Matt Hasselbeck $7 million for the 2011 season, according to John Clayton of ESPN. "[The Titans] are not gonna offer $7 million — which is what Hasselbeck's been offered [by Seattle] — and then have $14 million tied up in the quarterback position, and then really just have Matt as a transitional guy," Clayton said. "I think Kerry Collins would be willing to accept $3, 4 or 5 million."

Seahawks Unlikely To Pursue Asomugha

Nov 23, 2014 2:55 AM

The Seahawks are unlikely to pursue free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha because of both his age and price tag, according to ESPN's John Clayton. Asomugha, who turns 30 next month, made $28.5 million in the first two years of a three-year deal he signed with the Raiders before the 2009 season. "I just get the feeling that they (the Seahawks) wouldn't pay the $12-13 million a year but that could be wrong. They can pay (that much)," Clayton said. "I think the one concern would be this team wants to get younger and wants to get younger as fast as possible, and bringing in a (30)-year-old corner is not going to get the team younger. It will make it better, because now what it does is it sets up a great three-cornerback set (with Asomugha, Marcus Trufant and Walter Thurmond)."

Hasselbeck Addresses Uncertain Future

Jul 24, 2014 3:11 PM

Matt Hasselbeck, who will be a free agent when the NFL lockout ends, discussed his future with an ESPN affiliate in Milwaukee on Wednesday. Hasselbeck has appeared likely to re-sign the Seahawks this offseason, while at other times there have been reports that he's done in Seattle. "I definitely am hopeful to be back here, but at the same time, I understand that with a new GM, with a new regime, they sometimes want to go in a different direction. That could happen, too. I am prepared for whatever. Right now, I am just trying to get strong, really improve in some areas on the field and make a big leap this year physically and be ready to play at a high level -- play hopefully the best football of my career," he said. "Either way, it's a new offense. Darrell Bevell is the offensive coordinator here now. I have been with Darrell in Green Bay. I really like him as a coach. I love the offense he is installing here. If I was in charge of the offense, it is the offense that I would install. That learning curve would be good. "Either way, it's going to be a pretty new coaching staff. There is a lot of change here in Seattle in terms of the roster. They like to change the roster as much as they can, probably in an effort to get younger. You are going to have new teammates either way. We'll see. I'm open to whatever. I am hopeful to be here, but sometimes those things aren't in your control. Right now, the only thing I can affect is how I train, how I work out and how ready I am once this thing gets lifted."

Carroll: Tate Could Have Increased Role

Sep 12, 2014 9:24 PM

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is leaving open the possibility that wide receiver Golden Tate could have a serious role with the team this coming season. Tate had only 21 catches in his rookie season. Carroll believes Tate should see the field more in 2011, particularly in third-down situations as the slot receiver, similar to how Brandon Stokley was used last season. "There's nothing that we would like to see more than to elevate Golden's effectiveness," Carroll said. "We just didn't get him over the hump last year, and we need to do that. He'll be in position to take over a huge role for us."

Carroll: Players 'Know Who Won' 2004 Title

Nov 10, 2014 8:15 PM

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll called the decision to strip USC of the 2004 BCS title "unfortunate." Carroll told 710 ESPN Los Angeles that the players on those teams still consider themselves champions. "Just watch the comments of the players. They know. They know who won and who didn't," he said. "You've heard from (Matt) Leinart and Lofa Tatupu and those kinds of guys, they all know. The whole thing is so unfortunate. It's just so far off-base, it's just too bad." USC was stripped of its title on Monday by The Bowl Championship Series after the Trojans were hit with heavy NCAA sanctions last year.

Seahawks Gather For Workout

May 17, 2014 3:48 AM

For a few hours Thursday, Aaron Curry didn't feel locked out. "Workouts like this today are helping me get over the fact we're not playing football," Curry said. "It's just tough without doing it." Curry and about 35 or so players gathered inside the U. of Washington's indoor practice facility on Thursday morning for a planned, but informal workout. It was spearheaded by Seattle running back Justin Forsett, but the mix of players was far from Seahawks specific.
