Hasselbeck: 'Nothing Has Really Changed For Me'

May 16, 2014 10:57 PM

Matt Hasselbeck still wants to remain with the Seahawks. "Nothing has really changed for me," Hasselbeck said. "The only thing that's changed is time has elapsed." The quarterback said prior to the 2010 season that he wanted to re-sign with Seattle and that remains true. "I think that it's just one of those things, they were trying to get a lot of guys done," Hasselbeck said of discussions before the lockout. "There were a ton of free agents. It was hard to structure because we didn't know the labor deal."

Seahawks Might Trade Down From 25th

Jun 15, 2014 5:57 PM

The Seahawks are willing to trade down from the 25th overall pick in order to stockpile more mid-round selections. "Personally, I'd like to move back," general manager John Schneider said. "Because I have confidence in our ability in those middle rounds to do some good stuff and have a coaching staff that a) they're good teachers and b) they're excited to have these guys." Seattle is without a third-round pick and with plenty of holes to fill.

Hasselbeck Hoping To Remain With Seahawks

May 17, 2014 7:08 AM

Matt Hasselbeck hopes to return to the Seahawks next season. Hasselbeck, who has spent the last 10 seasons with Seattle, wasn't able to work out a deal with the team before the collective bargaining agreement expired. "I would put myself in the same boat as probably 500 other guys," Hasselbeck told The Boston Globe. "It's kind of hard to do a deal without knowing what the rules of the game are, and so most of us free agents were just kind of sitting in a holding pattern until this new CBA comes down. And we all knew it was going to be that. "There's maybe a handful of guys that were going to definitely get done before the lockout began, and I truly thought that I would be one of those guys potentially, because of my desire to stay and everything (the Seahawks) had told me. But it didn't happen, and that's OK. I'm not upset about anything. I understand it's kind of a weird year and it's a hard year to forecast." After the season, coach Pete Carroll called re-signing Hasselbeck the team's top priority. "I think it's genuine, I think it's sincere that they want me back, it's just a matter of how badly," Hasselbeck said. "I know that I would like to be there. I think I can help them keep going on what we're building there. It's just a matter if it fits into the new agreement and how they want to do things and whatever else they look at."
