Seahawks And Coach Holmgren Agree On Two-Year Extension

Nov 27, 2014 10:40 AM

The Seahawks re-signed their most important 2007 free agent Tuesday when they reached a two-year contract extension for coach Mike Holmgren, whose contract was set to expire after this season. Holmgren's agent, Bob LaMonte, finalized the contract extension one week after flying to Seattle last Tuesday to meet with Seahawks officials. Terms of the contract weren't available, but Holmgren was negotiating from a position of strength. With a $7 million salary in 2006, Holmgren was negotiating as the highest paid coach in the league.

Holmgren Decides He Wants To Coach Beyond '06

Oct 7, 2014 1:27 PM

Mike Holmgren, head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, wants to coach beyond next season, and it appears Seattle would like him to stay. "I would like to (coach again)," an upbeat and relaxed Holmgren said after Seattle's final practice of a veteran minicamp Thursday. "And I think they want me to. So, we'll see ... I think they like me OK." Holmgren's agent, Bob LaMonte, left Seattle after two days of discussions with Seahawks executives this week on a contract extension. Holmgren's current contract ends after the 2006 season. Those were the first contract talks since Holmgren said in late March that he was "thinking about what I want to do, honestly ... I wanted us to win the Super Bowl and ride off on a white horse."

Holmgren Mum About Future In Seattle

Oct 7, 2014 1:28 PM

Mike Holmgren has one year left on his contract with the Seahawks. The question is about his future beyond that and whether he will sign a contract extension before the season begins. "When it clears up, it will be clear, and hopefully off we go," Holmgren said. "It's one of two things will happen," Holmgren said. "Let's take it slow. The important thing is the football team and how they're feeling, and in this mini-camp we're off to a good start in 2006 with this group."
