Source: Hasselbeck MRI Shows A Broken Finger

Jun 24, 2014 5:12 AM

Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck had an MRI on Tuesday on his left (non-throwing) hand that according to a KING-5 TV report showed a broken finger. The injury happened when he banged the hand against a helmet during Seattle's 34-24 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Monday night. The Seahawks couldn't confirm the injury or the MRI, but coach Mike Holmgren likely will address Hasselbeck's status today at his weekly news conference. The injury is less serious because it involves Hasselbeck's non-throwing hand, but could affect his ability to take snaps.

Holmgren Rips Team, Apologizes; Hasselbeck Due Back This Week

Oct 20, 2014 10:31 PM

Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will be following league MVP Shaun Alexander out of the training room and back into the Seahawks' offense this week. That alone could cool the possibility of another Mike Holmgren postgame eruption. Seattle's coach ripped into his sloppy, undisciplined players so fiercely following a 20-14 loss at the 49ers, he was home Sunday night regretting it. And when he met with his players Monday morning, he apologized for it.

Raiders: Tape Shows Stevens Went For Groin First

Sep 17, 2014 7:24 AM

The Raiders say that tape shows Jerramy Stevens tried to hit Tyler Brayton in the groin first, before Brayton very obviously retaliated. "He initiated it, and Tyler reacted," Raiders coach Art Shell said. "You tell your guys not to react to things like that, but in that situation you understand. "Tyler was reacting to someone trying to kick him in the groin area," Shell said, who added he hopes Brayton's punishment is limited to a fine. "Sometimes when there's pushing and shoving, you might not react. But when that happens, guys will react, and he did." "He's a dirty, dirty player, and I knew he was," Stuart Schweigert said of Stevens. " ... (Stevens) got up right away talking trash, all that stuff, got in my face and tried to head-butt me (in the second quarter). And he got a personal foul then. And I just knew he was a guy you could expect that from."

Another Week Out For Alexander

Sep 13, 2014 7:57 PM

The crack in Shaun Alexander's foot still hasn't healed and he will be forced to miss another week of action when they play the Rams at home. Coach Mike Holmgren said Tuesday that consecutive days of MRIs and CT scans on last season's NFL rushing leader showed the fourth metatarsal on Alexander's left foot still is cracked. "He is healing. I think he'll do some running at the end of the week," Holmgren said. "But I wouldn't expect him to be able to play this week. Now, I suppose there's an outside chance, but that's how they are looking at it."
