The Pittsburgh Steelers moved up to the No. 14 pick and drafted Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones on Thursday night.

Pittsburgh acquired the pick in a deal with the New England Patriots, who received the No. 17 and No. 120 overall picks.

Bill O'Brien said he is giving Mac Jones a clean state as quarterback of the New England Patriots after a disappointing second season in the NFL.

"Fresh start," O'Brien said in his first remarks to reporters since he was hired in January. "It's really not anything about what's gone on in the past. That's one of our themes on offense -- to move forward."

Jones took a step back after Josh McDaniels left the Patriots to become head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Jones started 14 games, missing three due to a high-ankle sprain, and finished 288-of-442 for 2,997 yards, with 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

A number of New England Patriots players are unhappy about the trade rumors swirling around quarterback Mac Jones, according to a report.

A previous report stated that Bill Belichick has shopped the former first-round pick this offseason. This came after the coach suggested that Jones' starting job with the team wasn't totally locked in.

"I've spoken to players who are not happy that this is in the news, that the Patriots and their potential interest in trading Mac Jones is out there in the public sphere," Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston said. "They aren't happy on Mac's behalf; they aren't happy, period, on their own behalf. They're not happy that 2022 is bleeding into 2023."

Things soured between Belichick and Jones in part because the quarterback sought outside counsel during the year amid frustrations with how the offense was operating under Matt Patricia and Joe Judge. 

Perry notes that there has been "a collective rolling of eyes" by folks inside the organization with Belichick holding this against him so venomously. 

Bill Belichick has shopped Mac Jones to multiple teams during the 2023 offseason, according to a source.

The New England Patriots used a first round pick on Jones in 2021 and he had a promising rookie season before taking a step back in 2022.

The teams mentioned as potential destinations were the Las Vegas Raiders, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Washington Commanders.
