JuJu Smith-Schuster, Coach Get Into Heated Exchange On Sideline

Nov 27, 2023 8:52 AM

JuJu Smith-Schuster got into a heated exchange with wide receivers coach Troy Smith in the first half of the New England Patriots' loss to the New York Giants on Sunday.

The altercation was caught by reporters in New Jersey. It ended with Smith-Schuster slamming his helmet and sitting down on the sideline. The receiver then got back up and pleaded his case with teammate Hunter Henry. Smith-Schuster was also seen far away from the position group on the sideline.

Smith-Schuster's altercation with Brown came after Mac Jones threw his second interception of the half. Jones dropped back and seemingly had Smith-Schuster open over the middle for what would've been a first down.

He signed a three-year, $33 million deal with the Patriots this offseason. In eight games played this year, the receiver has just 22 catches for 149 yards and a touchdown reception.

Nov 25, 2023 12:47 PM

The New England Patriots waived third-string quarterback Will Grier on Saturday, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

That leaves Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe on the depth chart, with coach Bill Belichick yet to announce a starter for Sunday's road game against the New York Giants after he had benched Jones late in the team's most recent game - a Week 10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Frankfurt, Germany.

Mac Jones Doesn't Know Whether He Will Start In Week 12

Nov 15, 2023 9:46 AM

Mac Jones isn't sure whether he's still the starting quarterback for the New England Patriots.

Jones was benched at the end of Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany. Bill Belichick declined to name a starter on Monday.

"No. We haven't talked about that," Jones said on WEEI when asked if he's discussed whether he'll start in Week 12 after the team's bye.

"Really just, today we watched the game film and kind of talked about the plans for the bye week. We have practice tomorrow. Just see how it goes there and the bye week is a great time to work on things that you can do better so, that's what I'm going to do."

Source: Patriots Not Taking J.C. Jackson To Germany

Nov 9, 2023 8:59 AM

J.C. Jackson is not expected to travel with the New England Patriots for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts in Germany, according to a source.

NFL Network first reported that Jackson won't travel for the game, citing questions about his reliability. The cornerback missed curfew at the team hotel last Saturday before Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders.

The Patriots acquired Jackson in a trade from the Los Angeles Chargers on Oct. 5, as Jackson had fallen out of favor with the Chargers after signing a four-year, $82.5 million deal as a free agent in March 2022.

Report: Pats View Mike Vrabel As 'Home Run' To Replace Bill Belichick

Nov 8, 2023 8:25 AM

Bill Belichick signed a lucrative contract extension with the New England Patriots this offseason, but questions remain about his future with the team amid a 2-7 start to the season.

A Boston Globe report states that it isn't a given Belichick finishes out the season, adding that Robert Kraft has already discussed the possibility of firing the head coach.

The report adds that the Patriots view the Tennessee Titans' Mike Vrabel as a "home run" choice to replace Bill Belichick.

They also see Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio as another "home run" target to return to the front office.
