Bill Belichick has expressed doubt about his future with the New England Patriots to his staff at various points over the last few weeks, according to a report.

The legendary coach has largely dismissed any questions regarding his future.

There have been reports that Patriots owner Robert Kraft wants to go in a different direction after a disappointing 2023 season.

Bill Belichick believes the kicking footballs used during the first half of Sunday's loss by the New England Patriots against the Kansas City Chiefs were "under inflated by 2, 2 1/2 pounds."

"We don't have anything to do with it. Were we aware of it? Yeah, definitely," Belichick said. "As I understand it, they were all the same. I don't know what the explanation is. It was the same for both teams.

"You'd have to talk to the league about what happened on that. That part of it, they control all that."

Per league rules, the kicking footballs are supposed to be between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch, with officials in charge of ensuring that is the case as they are in possession of all footballs leading up to the game.

Belichick said missed field goals by Kansas City's Harrison Butker (39 yards) and New England's Chad Ryland (41 yards) in the first half, and two kickoffs that almost went out of bounds, were plays in which "you could see" how the underinflated footballs affected the game.

Bill Belichick deflected multiple questions about his job status Wednesday, repeating the same answer each time: "I'm getting ready for Kansas City."

A report this week indicated that the New England Patriots have already decided to move on from Belichick this offseason.

The Patriots were officially eliminated from the postseason Sunday when the Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Indianapolis Colts.

Belichick has won six Super Bowls with the Patriots. 

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has already decided to move on from legendary coach Bill Belichick after this season, according to a report.

Kraft apparently made the decision after watching the Patriots lose to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany on Nov. 12.

"When they came out of Germany, conversations I had that week made it very clear that a decision was made and they were going to play out the string, and at the end of the year, there would be a parting of the ways for a variety of reasons," Tom Curran reports.
