Mario Williams Stressed By Bills' Thin Secondary

With the Buffalo Bills' secondary struggling, Mario Williams feels as though the defensive line has been under pressure to get to the quarterback.

"It's a lot of stress, but for us up front, we definitely welcome it," said Williams. "We're going to bring it regardless."

The Buffalo Bills beat the Carolina Panthers 24-23 in what became a battle of field goal kickers in the fourth quarter until EJ Manuel hit Stevie Johnson for a game-winning touchdown in the final seconds.

The Bills had a +0.9 advantage in the Trench Counter, averaging 1.9 more yards per play but similar first downs and one additional turnover. Buffalo had a +7 edge in Total Rushes/Completions.

Manuel went 27-for-39 for 296 yards, one touchdown and one interception, while C.J. Spiller carried 16 times for 103 yards. Johnson finished the game with eight carries for 111 yards and the aforementioned touchdown.

Cam Newton went 21-for-38 for 229 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Tom Brady went 29-for-52 for 288 yards with two touchdowns to Julian Edleman and an interception. Danny Amendola caught 10 balls for 104 yards, while Shane Vereen rushed 14 times for 101 yards.

EJ Manuel went 18-for-27 for 150 yards and two touchdowns in his NFL debut.

Jarius Byrd Seeks Trade From Bills

Jairus Byrd seeks a trade from the Buffalo Bills by the Oct. 29 deadline.

Byrd and the Bills are coming out of contentious contract discussions in which he was forced to played under the $6.9 million tender.

Byrd will miss the start of the season due to a lingering plantar fasciitis injury.

Byrd played with the injury last season hoping he would secure a long-term contract.

Byrd is one of the NFL's best safeties.
