Larry Fitzgerald Has 'A Lot Of Good Football Left'

Jul 21, 2016 11:34 AM

Larry Fitzgerald, who entered the NFL as a first-round pick in 2004, says he has a lot of football left.

Fitzgerald said in May that he has "no idea" if this season will be his last. He has set goals of winning of a Super Bowl and earning his 10th Pro Bowl nod.

"I'd be lying if I told you I didn't think about it," Fitzgerald said of retirement. "Just trying to prepare for the next phase in your life, but I have a lot of good football left in me. How long I will play, I don't know. I feel great. I can still play at a high level. I just have to take it one year at a time and I got a really fantastic team I'm a part of."

Over 12 seasons, Fitzgerald has 1,018 receptions, 13,366 yards and 98 touchdowns.

Calais Campbell: 'Licking My Chops' To Face Jimmy Garoppolo

Jul 14, 2016 7:35 AM

The New England Patriots open the season against the Arizona Cardinals and are expected to be without Tom Brady after the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals denied the quarterback's petition to rehear his suspension case.

Calais Campbell told CBS Sports Radio on Wednesday he's looking forward to facing an inexperienced Jimmy Garoppolo.

"Licking my chops," Campbell said. "You get a rookie quarterback, pretty much. You know it's always exciting when you get a guy like that for his first game because he's going to be nervous. He's probably going to be sitting there holding the ball a little longer or trying to get rid of it quick, throwing bad balls. As a vet, we definitely pride ourselves on welcoming (inexperienced quarterbacks) the right way."

Patrick Peterson Means 'Much More' To His Team Than Other Top CBs

Jul 8, 2016 8:02 AM

Patrick Peterson is shrugging off the idea that some of his peers might get more attention and indicated that he feels he brings more value to his team.

The Arizona Cardinals cornerback said he wants to "do my talking between the white lines."

"I don't need to be boastful or brash. 'Oh, look at me,'" Peterson told USA Today Sports. "I'm all about the team. I don't want to take that focus away from the team. At the end of the day, I know I'm the best. I know I can get in the face of the receiver, and I mean much more to my team versus those guys to their team."

One player Peterson was comparing himself to was Richard Sherman, with whom he's traded barbs on Twitter.

After Sherman signed a contract extension, Peterson said he deserved just as much money from the Cardinals. Sherman tweeted, "never confuse potential with production." Peterson fired back, saying Sherman wasn't a lockdown cornerback because of the Seattle Seahawks' scheme.

Drew Stanton Excepts Chance To Start When Carson Palmer Retires

Jul 7, 2016 3:45 PM

Drew Stanton expects to receive a chance to start for the Arizona Cardinals once Carson Palmer retires.

Stanton could have chased a bigger, more promising deal this offseason, but he ultimately re-signed with the Cardinals for $6.5 million over two years. It includes $4.5 million in guarantees.

"As you get older, I think just wanting to be a part of a good situation (is the priority)," Stanton said. "There's not a written rule on how you become a starting quarterback in this league and how you can sustain that over a period of time. I've found a great situation here in Arizona. Who knows who long Carson will play for?

"But I've had at-length discussions with everybody in the franchise (about the fact) that there's a chance for me to be able to start when he's done. So that's the whole goal of all this."
