Leinart To Get Second Opinion On Injured Shoulder
Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart, already ruled out of Sunday's finale against the Chargers, will get a second opinion on his injured left shoulder from orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews.
Despite telling reporters Sunday that his sprained throwing shoulder was not serious, Leinart will have Andrews look at the X-ray and MRI taken by the team. Andrews, who has a long history of working with professional athletes, will determine if he needs further examination.
Leinart Out For Season With Sprained Shoulder
Matt Leinart sprained his left shoulder in the Cardinals' game against the 49ers on Sunday, ending the quarterback's strong rookie season one game early.
Leinart was hurt when Roderick Green sacked him on third down during a drive that ended in Neil Rackers' 39-yard field goal with 1:57 left in the second quarter. Leinart went to the locker room after the hit, and returned to the sideline in street clothes as Kurt Warner finished off the Cardinals' 26-20 victory.
Gatlin Works Out With Cardinals
Olympic and world sprint champion Justin Gatlin worked out for the Cardinals this week, his second tryout for an NFL team.
Gatlin, who faces an eight-year ban from track and field following a positive drug test, worked out for Cardinals officials Tuesday, team spokesman Mark Dalton said Friday.
