Jonathan Gannon: 'Sky's The Limit' For Kyler Murray

Feb 28, 2024 8:04 AM

The Arizona Cardinals continue to issue public support for Kyler Murray as their franchise quarterback.

Jonathan Gannon was asked about what Murray's next step is now that he's healthy and can fully take part in an entire offseason after returning from ACL surgery last November.

Gannon said it's "reps" and "time on task."

Based on how last season finished for Murray, who led the Cardinals to a 3-5 record after returning to a team that was 1-8 at the time, Gannon believes the "sky's the limit" for the sixth-year quarterback.

"I don't think you've seen his best ball either," Gannon said. "And I'm very confident in that because he's a guy that attacks getting better every day. And it's a new system for him. It's new for him and playing the quarterback position -- it's one thing to be a corner playing in a new system, it's another thing to be a quarterback playing in a new system. So, I thought he handled it extremely well."

Cardinals GM Plans To Spend In Free Agency

Feb 23, 2024 9:26 AM

The Arizona Cardinals have a projected $41.7 million in salary cap space heading into the offseason.

General Manager Monti Ossenfort noted Thursday on Arizona Sports 98.7 that he plans to use that cash to supplement his team building rather than the driver.

"We are definitely going to be active in free agency. What does that mean? I can't spell that out for you right now," Ossenfort said. "I don't know what that means because we don't completely control that. There is a market and players we think are going to be available right now that two weeks from now are not going to be available. Free agency is full of unknowns in that respect, and there are dangers in free agency.

"The nature of free agency, you end up overpaying. That's how it works. It's full of mistakes. That's not to say there are not things you can fix there. We will take our chances and there will be times we will find ways to supplement our roster, but ultimately we are going to build this team, and what we are going to be moving forward, through the draft."

Former Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury, who was close to joining the Las Vegas Raiders as their offensive coordinator, has emerged as a candidate for the same job in Washington, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Kingsbury was going to join Las Vegas coach Antonio Pierce's staff until a breakdown in contract talks ended that pursuit Saturday, agent Erik Burkhardt told Schefter.
