Tyrann Mathieu Rails Against Cardinals' Offense After Tie

Oct 24, 2016 1:28 PM

Tyrann Mathieu was frustrated with the Arizona Cardinals' offense and special teams after the team tied with the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night.

"It's a team sport," Mathieu said. "When the defense is playing well, the offense has to complement us, special teams has to complement everybody, (and) vice versa."

The Cardinals held the Seahawks to their fewest total yards and rushing yards in a game this season.

The Arizona offense failed to score a touchdown despite having eight drives that ended in Seattle territory, including six inside the 30.

Arizona's special teams had three costly mishaps -- a blocked field goal, a blocked punt and a missed game-winning field goal in overtime.

"It's upsetting," Mathieu said. "It's a team sport. We all got to get held accountable. We got to better on special teams. Offensively, we got to score points and defensively we got to create turnovers."

Carson Palmer Takes Day Off To Rest Arm

Oct 20, 2016 7:49 AM

Carson Palmer didn't throw any passes during Wednesday's practice in an effort to rest his throwing arm.

The Arizona Cardinals played on Monday Night Football this past week.

"There's no doubt, with that short week we had going into San Francisco and then having all that time off, whether you're 36 or 26, you're going to feel great coming off that week," Palmer said.

Palmer normally doesn't take part in a full Wednesday practice, instead making about a third of the throws he would during a typical practice.

Cardinals Haven't Been As Successful On Deep Plays

Oct 17, 2016 8:32 AM

The Arizona Cardinals have connected on 19 pass plays of 20 or more yards through five games this season.

The Cardinals call those "explosive" plays and they had the third-most such plays last season with 65.

"We just ain't hitting them," Bruce Arians said.

The coach sees receivers dropping passes and quarterbacks underthrowing them.

"There have been some that I've underthrown. There's been some that they just played coverage and they were basically long throwaways. So, there's been a mix of reasons," Carson Palmer said. "We always love to take those shots. If they're there, we'll take them. If they're not, we won't take them. But, got to continue to improve on it and get better."

Of Arizona's 19 explosive plays, six came in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Carson Palmer In Concussion Protocol, Unlikely To Play In Week 5

Oct 3, 2016 10:51 AM

Carson Palmer was placed in the NFL's concussion protocol following a hit in the fourth quarter of Week 4.

On the play, a sack was split by Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald and defensive end Eugene Sims, and Palmer's head appeared to hit the turf. He was wobbly after being helped up by teammates and was met by team doctors and trainers at the sideline as he came off the field. They evaluated him on the sideline and then escorted him to the locker room, where he underwent further evaluation.

The Cardinals play at the 49ers in Week 5 on Thursday.

"Probably not, probably not," Bruce Arians said. "We'll be very, very careful with this injury. It is not like a sore wrist or a sore shoulder."
