Bruce Arians said his overnight hospital stay was due to diverticulitis, an existing condition that flared up before practice on Tuesday.

Arians, 63, said late Wednesday morning that he's feeling "much better" and that he plans on attending Arizona's practice with the San Diego Chargers later in the afternoon.

"I'm too old not to listen to doctors anymore," Arians said. "I have a tendency to push it but I'll go out today and see how long we'll stay. It's nothing serious."

Arians has been on a fairly strict diet recently, which made Tuesday's health scare a surprise to the coach.

"It was odd that it happened," Arians said.

Bruce Arians was taken to a San Diego-area hospital by ambulance before Tuesday night's practice at Qualcomm Stadium.

The Arizona Cardinals and San Diego Chargers were engaged in a joint practice.

Arians alerted the team's medical staff that he wasn't feeling well and was "experiencing stomach pain."

"He's going to be fine," Larry Fitzgerald said. "We got the toughest coach in the business."

Larry Fitzgerald has signed a one-year contract extension with the Arizona Cardinals.

Fitzgerald caught a career-high 109 passes for 1,215 yards and nine touchdowns in 2015. 

Fitzgerald had several down seasons as the Cardinals had injuries and inconsistency at quarterback.

The Arizona Cardinals have signed Carson Palmer to a one-year contract extension. 

Palmer will get a $6.75 million signing bonus, plus $15.5 million in salary and bonuses fully guaranteed in 2017.

Palmer's 2018 salary will be $12.5 million plus a $1.5 million roster bonus, none of which is guaranteed.

Tyrann Mathieu and the Arizona Cardinals have agreed upon a five-year, $62.5 million extension.

The deal includes $40 million in guarantees for Mathieu, who has become one of the NFL's best safeties.

Mathieu tore his ACL in December.
