Patrick Peterson Predicting 'Great Year' For J.J. Nelson

Jun 24, 2016 9:01 AM

Patrick Peterson told NBC Sports Radio that he believes J.J. Nelson will have a breakout year for the Arizona Cardinals.

"I believe J.J. Nelson's going to have a great year," Peterson said. "He had a great, great spring, showed some flashes. I can't wait to see what he's going to do here if he can keep that momentum going into summer camp because I've seen it happen a number of times."

Bruce Arians has praised the second-year receiver as well.

Nelson had 11 receptions for 299 yards and two touchdowns in 2015.

"Guys have great springs but once they get in front of a couple of fans and the crowd, the lights come on, you get a different player," Peterson said. "So J.J. is definitely one of them that had a great spring."

Bruce Arians Felt Betrayed By Steelers In 2012

Jun 19, 2016 10:21 AM

Bruce Arians felt betrayed by the Pittsburgh Steelers when they let him go after the 2011 season.

Arians was offensive coordinator from 2007 until 2011.

"I got a call on Monday and [Tomlin] said, 'I can't get you the money.' I said, 'OK,'" Arians said. "He said, 'No, I can't get you a contract.'

"I said, 'Are you firing me?' He said, 'No.' 'Well ... it's just a matter of words, Mike. OK. If I don't have a contract, I'm fired.'"

The Steelers made two Super Bowl appearances with Arians as offensive coordinator, winning the title in 2008. Explaining why he felt betrayed, Arians said it was because he felt he had "done a good job."

"Maybe not the right image, but it was a damn good job," he said. "I was pissed. But again, time heals things."

Arians moved onto the Indianapolis Colts before becoming head coach of the Arizona Cardinals in 2013.
