Titans Pick Up WR Edwards

Oct 1, 2014 10:23 AM

The Tennessee Titans picked up the Jacksonville Jaguars #2 receiver from last season for a one-year deal at the veteran minimum of $540,000. "The way I fit in here depends on the way that I perform,'' Edwards said last night. "If I perform well I think I'll be here and I'll play. If I don't perform I'll be back at home taking the kids to school. But I am not trying to do that any time soon. I hope to play another six years. I am healthy and I am fresh and I love to play. I'd love to revamp my career here in Tennessee.'' Edwards, 28, was released by the Jaguars last Sunday after catching 50 passes for 533 yards last season.

Hopkins Receives One-Game Suspension

Oct 1, 2014 10:23 AM

The NFL handed down a one-game suspension to Tennessee Titans' left tackle Brad Hopkins for violating the league?s personal conduct policy. This coming from a domestic assault incident involving the offensive lineman that took place last March. "The league is very serious about any infraction and no matter what my intentions were at the time I am having to pay for it. It is my mistake,'' Hopkins said. "I am just going to try and give as much support as I can in what limited capacity I will be able to.''

Titans Reach Deal With Pacman Jones

Oct 1, 2014 10:24 AM

The Tennessee Titans finally reached a deal with their top draft pick Adam "Pacman" Jones on Wednesday night, ending their longest contract holdout since relocating to the state of Tennessee. Jones had missed the first 20 days of training camp. But with his agent Michael Huyghue meeting with the Titans on Tuesday and Wednesday, they finally reached agreement in principle on a five-year deal with $13.5 million in guaranteed money. "They'll type it up tomorrow, get it to us, and we may have to dot one more 'I' or cross one more 'T,' but he'll be over at the facility when the team gets back and resume practice as soon as they get back," Huyghue told The Associated Press. The Titans had no immediate comment.

Volek Wants A Trade

Dec 10, 2014 2:55 AM

Titans? backup quarterback Billy Volek, another member of the exclusive Drew Rosenhaus club for holdouts and unhappy football players wants to be traded out of Tennessee to a team where he can start. ?It?s a tough situation for him. He?s a fabulous quarterback, and he?s a backup here,? Rosenhaus said. ?And he could start for a lot of other teams. It?s a tough scenario for a guy that?s in his prime. He?s 29 years old, and it?s a scenario where he really needs to be given a chance to blossom, and it?s not going to happen right now.? ?I want to be a starter, and that?s my goal,? Volek said. ?I want to be a starter and have my team and take my team to the Super Bowl. Obviously, this year, I want to be in Nashville and be the best backup I can be.? Volek spurned offers from Atlanta, Buffalo and Green Bay to sign a five-year, $12 million deal with the Titans in 2004. The Titans do not seem all that enthusiastic about a trade. ?You have to have two good quarterbacks to have a chance to win. We have two good quarterbacks,? Titans coach Jeff Fisher said. ?Why would we give one of them away, unless you had a chance to get a better one? We?re not in the business of developing players for other teams. We?re developing players for our future.?

Five-year veteran safety Arturo Freeman, released by the Green Bay Packers over the weekend, has quickly agreed to join the Tennessee Titans, ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports. Freeman, who spent the first five seasons of his career with the Miami Dolphins before moving on to Green Bay this spring, will sign a one-year, $540,000 contract. Freeman, 28, will add veteran experience and versatility, a solid "nickel" player and good special teams contributor to the Tennessee secondary. He provides the club an insurance policy as starter Tank Williams continues his rehabilitation from offseason knee surgery.

Rookie Pacman Jones/Titans Negotiations Reach ?Impasse?

Feb 16, 2014 6:25 PM

Adam ?Pacman? Jones? holdout has gone on so long that the two sides do not see an agreement getting done anytime in the near future. The only thing they do agree on is that the negotiations have reached an impasse. "I don't think I've ever seen this," Titans general manager Floyd Reese said an hour before the Titans kicked off their opening preseason game against Tampa Bay. "So this one's kind of new. I've only been doing this for 30 years, and this is the first time the press got an e-mail and the GM didn't." According to Jones? agent Michael Huyghue, the Titans? total offer was less money than given to cornerback Antrel Rolle, the eighth pick of the draft by Arizona. Rolle signed a six-year, $43 million contract Tuesday with $13.6 million in guaranteed money. "While we made some initial progress in our negotiations, ultimately, the Titans have refused to offer a fair market deal to Adam," Huyghue said. Reese took a defiant stance against Huyghue?s statement saying, "we didn't spend much time negotiating, I tell you that.?

Rookie Pacman Lashes Out At Teammates

Jul 9, 2014 5:52 AM

Now on the 12th day of his holdout, the Tennessee Titans first-round pick, cornerback Adam ?Pacman? Jones, is upset at his teammate?s attitude toward him and disappointed about their lack of loyalty. It really is biting at me,'' Jones said by phone. "My teammates, I don't think they've been as loyal as they should have been in this situation. A lot of other guys around the league are holding out and my teammates are the only ones that are saying negative stuff about me."

Titans' Veterans Begin Resenting Pacman's Absence

Jul 9, 2014 5:50 AM

The battle over a contract for cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones, the sixth player selected overall in the draft and one of eight first-rounders yet to reach agreement, moved on Monday from the board room to the Tennessee Titans' locker room. For the most part, Tennessee veterans have all but ignored Jones' continuing absence, and downplayed the fact that the rebuilding Titans remain without a youngster expected to play a significant role in 2005. But following the Monday morning practice, several players, most notably defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, noted that Jones' potential impact as a rookie is being reduced every day he isn't here in camp. And the fourth-year veteran Haynesworth opined that, when Jones arrives, he may not be greeted warmly. "He's not going to have any favorites in this locker room if he comes in here [with the attitude] the way he left [after minicamp]," Haynesworth said. "He's got a lot of work to do. He's going to have to be covering receivers like Marvin Harrison (of Indianapolis) and Andre Johnson (of Houston), and right now I'm not sure he can cover a free agent." A few players offered similar assessments, although few for attribution. "No matter when he gets here, he's going to have to do a lot of catching up, and let's leave it at that," said linebacker Keith Bulluck.
