Walter Payton's Son Starring In Europe, Hopes To Become A Titan

Jul 12, 2014 1:33 AM

Jarett Payton, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Walter Payton, is a running back with the Amsterdam Admirals in NFL Europe, and he's trying to make the Tennessee Titans this season. He was on their practice roster last season. "My dad was the greatest, but I just want to be the guy who can play the game and not because of my last name," Payton said. "I was born into this and I've got to take it. I can't go out there and be like him. I've got to be myself."

Tennessee Wants Travis Henry

Oct 25, 2014 11:18 PM

Titans' owner Bud Adams is looking to acquire Bills' running back Travis Henry. Buffalo is looking for a third-round selection in exchange for Henry. "We're interested in Henry,'' Adams said yesterday from the NFL Meetings in Washington, D.C. "He wants to get out of Buffalo. We think he has a lot of ability. We think he has four good years left. Because of where he went to college I think he'd be real popular with the fans. "I think he'd be a real good addition.''

Schulters Hopes To Stay In Tennessee

Dec 10, 2014 5:03 PM

Agent Brian Levy said he's hopeful his client Lance Schulters will be a Titan in 2005 but knows his high cap number ($4.2 million) could make him a potential post-June 1 salary cap casualty. ''I just want to get a sense on what is going on two weeks from now. If he is going to be available I'd like to at least go ahead and start my due diligence on his behalf,'' Levy said. ''He'll play football next year. Where it will be, that really depends on what the Titans want. Hopefully we'll go in there and they'll say he's in our plans and we'll just leave it at that. I know Lance likes it there and he'd like to be a part of it.'' Schulters, who missed most of last season with a foot injury, is healthy. The Titans need to create more salary cap room to sign their draft picks.

Titans Looking To Trade For Henry

Dec 10, 2014 10:06 AM

The Titans are among the teams who would trade for Bills' running back Travis Henry, who played for the Tennessee Volunteers. The Titans and Bills discussed a trade for Henry during the NFL Draft, and General Manager Floyd Reese and Bills GM Tom Donohoe have had some dialogue since. ''My gut is I think if they can't get what they were looking for during the draft, then I am almost thinking they are going to keep him,'' Reese said. ''But I don't know that.'' Reese said the Bills initially wanted a second- or third- round pick. Reese said the Titans offered the Bills a fifth-round pick and the Bills balked. ''If I can get him at a decent price, yeah,'' Reese said.

Payton's Son Has Eyes On Titans Job

Sep 30, 2014 11:33 PM

Jarrett Payton has had a huge impact on the Amsterdam Admirals so far in the NFL Europe. He is third in the league in rushing yards with 410 and first with five rushing TDs. But the son of former Bears Hall of Famer Walter Payton has plans to rush for the Titans. "I've never been as focused and as hungry and playing as well as I have since I've been over here, so I am trying to just keep that up and bring it back with me," Payton said from Amsterdam. "I feel like it's a good chance for me to come back and be able to get a spot on the roster. I feel like I can help make plays. Yeah, I feel like this is a big chance and I am looking forward to it."
