NFL Postpones Titans/Steelers To Monday Or Tuesday

Sep 30, 2020 12:42 PM

The NFL has postponed Sunday's game between the Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers to either Monday or Tuesday.

The postponement follows positive COVID-19 tests among the Titans from four players.

Mike Vrabel said Wednesday that some of the players who tested positive were experiencing flu-like symptoms.

"I know there's going to be a lot of questions about the game and about who's to blame and where it started. Nobody's to blame. We're in a pandemic," Vrabel said. "... This is a very unfortunate situation, but one that we're confident that we will be able to handle safely with the football team and the players' best interests in mind."

Ryan Shazier Announces Retirement From NFL

Sep 9, 2020 11:26 AM

Ryan Shazier has officially announced his retirement from the NFL.

"When I was 5 years old, I made the greatest discovery of my life," Shazier said in a video posted to Twitter on Wednesday. "I discovered the game that I love -- the game of football. Ever since then, I've given my life to the game. I love everything about it ...

"Football gave me everything I ever wanted and more. It taught me about hard work, dedication, teamwork. It took me to college and the NFL. It made me money and gave me a life most people could only dream about. I'm here today to make sure the world knows how much I still love football, how grateful I am for everything football gave me. And I'm here to let the world know that today, I am officially retiring from the game I love so much."

Shazier was rushed to a University of Cincinnati hospital on Dec. 4, 2017, after a tackling attempt against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football left him struggling to move.

Shazier underwent spinal stabilization surgery a few days after, and he didn't regain movement in his legs until the following February.

"To lose the game in a way I never envisioned has not been easy," Shazier said in his video. "When you play the game of football the way I did, you convince yourself you're Superman. That nothing can stop you, but then the moment I got hurt, I stopped being Superman. That was difficult to make sense."

Steelers Open To Contract Extension With Ben Roethlisberger

Sep 4, 2020 9:21 AM

Ben Roethlisberger's contract runs through the 2021 season, but the Pittsburgh Steelers are open to extending the quarterback's deal beyond that.

"Obviously after the season we'll evaluate his contract situation along with other contract decisions we have to make," Art Rooney II said. "But if Ben feels like playing longer and it looks like he's capable of doing it, certainly that would be a great scenario."

The Steelers are encouraged by what they've seen from Roethlisberger in training camp. He missed the final 14 games of the 2019 season after having significant elbow surgery.
