Antonio Brown Upset With Steelers, Skipped Practices Before Week 17

Dec 31, 2018 6:56 PM

Antonio Brown reported "went off" on a teammate and skipped multiple meetings and practices before and after the Pittsburgh Steelers' finale against the Bengals.

The Steelers kept Brown out of the game due to the dispute and not because of a reported knee injury.

Brown became "disgusted" and threw a football in anger at one of his teammates during a walk-through.

Ben Roethlisberger was involved in the discussion with Brown, but this wasn't a head-to-head clash.

Brown got upset that Roethlisberger wanted to run a hot read over again during a walkthrough, so coaches sent another player to run the play.

Brown got upset, left practice and talked with Roethlisberger afterward, telling the quarterback that he felt underappreciated and had issues with people in the organization.

"It's a difficult situation," one player said. "It's hard to know what to think. This is the stuff that's hard to deal with."

Brown finished the season with 104 catches for 1,297 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Le'Veon Bell Has Interest In Signing With Colts

Dec 21, 2018 5:39 PM

Le'Veon Bell reportedly has interest in signing with the Indianapolis Colts in free agency.

“He has his eyes on the Colts, no doubt about that,” an unnamed source told Ralph Vacchiano of SNY. “He sees [quarterback Andrew] Luck and that offense and all that cap room and they’re much closer than the Jets. He wants to go someplace he can win right away.”

Bell also has interest in signing with the New York Jets, who have been linked to him for months.

The Colts have a cheaper option at running back in Marlon Mack.

Cam Jordan: Ben Roethlisberger Isn't Top 5 QB This Era

Dec 21, 2018 8:20 AM

Cameron Jordan doesn't believe that Ben Roethlisberger is among the top five quarterbacks of his generation.

The New Orleans Saints will host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

"Is that true?" Jordan responded when a reporter suggested that Roethlisberger might be a future Hall of Famer.

"In this era? You'd put him at like a top three of this era? You'd put him in the top five of this era?" he continued, before listing Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning as top quarterbacks during Roethlisberger's 15-year career.

"You're saying he's better than Philip Rivers, career-wise? So you're giving him the Super Bowl nod?" Jordan said. "You're putting him at No. 5? OK. ... I'd honestly put Eli (Manning) before I'd put Ben, but OK. Two Super Bowls -- if we're going by those numbers."

Jordan took to Twitter on Thursday night to clarify that he was only doubting Roethlisberger's credentials as a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

James Conner Doesn't Expect To Play Week 16

Dec 20, 2018 3:07 PM

James Conner does not expect to play in Week 16.

Conner has missed the past two games for the Pittsburgh Steelers with an ankle injury.

"I'm trying," Conner said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "It's day by day. These high-ankle sprains are deceiving. I can walk around fine, I'm not limping around, but when I'm out there on the field, cutting and stuff, I'm just not ready yet."

Patriots Accuse Antonio Brown Of 'Super Dirty Move'

Dec 19, 2018 9:49 AM

Stephon Gilmore, who held Antonio Brown to just two catches on four targets this past Sunday, claims the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver made some dirty plays.

Brown and Gilmore got into a post-whistle shoving match during the third quarter.

"He did a little dirty move," Gilmore said. "[Brown] grabbed my helmet, threw me down. That was super dirty. But other than that, just competing on the field."

Brown caught a 17-yard touchdown, but Gilmore wasn't defending him on the play.

Steelers Rule Out James Conner For Week 14

Dec 5, 2018 8:22 AM

The Pittsburgh Steelers have ruled out James Conner for this Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders.

Conner left this past Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers with a leg injury.

"James Conner's injury is probably a little more significant than we initially thought," Mike Tomlin said. "I don't know if you would describe it as a high-ankle sprain. It is an ankle sprain, much more than a contusion initially thought to be."

Jaylen Samuels will likely lead Pittsburgh's rushing attack with Conner sidelined. Stevan Ridley and Trey Edmunds could also see increased work.

James Conner Suffers Leg Contusion In Loss

Dec 3, 2018 8:49 AM

James Conner suffered a lower right leg contusion in the Pittsburgh Steelers' 33-30 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night.

Conner was hurt in the fourth quarter on a tackle. He gained 10 yards on a screen pass with 5:08 remaining and fell to the grass after pushing through two defenders for the first down.

He is among the league leaders in rushing touchdowns, with 12.

"You never want to see a guy like that go down," Antonio Brown said. "But like we said, every guy in a helmet is upholding the standard, and anyone can be the reason we win."
