Oct 3, 2019 2:47 AM

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr offered an impassioned defense of suspended middle linebacker Vontaze Burfict in London on Wednesday, and coach Jon Gruden told reporters he is "not happy ... at all" with the NFL's decision to sideline Burfict for the remainder of the season.

Carr said Burfict is "one of the most misunderstood people in the NFL" and had become one of his favorite teammates in their short time together.

"I don't think he was trying to hurt that man; the man was going down," Carr said of Burfict's helmet-to-helmet hit on Colts tight end Jack Doyle on Sunday, which triggered the suspension a day later

Khalil Mack Expected To Spend Entire Career With Raiders

Oct 2, 2019 2:44 PM

Khalil Mack will play the Oakland Raiders this Sunday for the first time he was traded to the Chicago Bears.

Mack expected to sign a long-term contract with the Raiders and spend his entire career with the franchise.

"That's the expectation when you get drafted to a team: You want to be there for the long haul and bring championships and all those good things," Mack said. "It's the business side of it that doesn't really let you do that."

Mack was drafted fifth overall by the Raiders in 2014.

Mack signed a lucrative multiyear deal with the Bears that included $90 million in total guarantees.
