The Jets agreed to terms on a three-year contract with free-agent defensive end David Bowens, his agent told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
The two sides reached the agreement late Tuesday night and will sign the contract Thursday, agent Harold C. Lewis said. The deal is for $6.1 million, with an additional $2 million in incentives that could make it worth as much as $8.1 million.

The Jets signed free-agent quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo on Friday.

He's expected to compete with second-year quarterback Kellen Clemens for the No. 2 job behind starter Chad Pennington.

Broncos Win The Battle For QB Patrick Ramsey
The Broncos on Wednesday night won the battle for coveted backup quarterback Patrick Ramsey, with ESPN.com learning the club has reached a contract agreement with the five-year veteran.
Ramsey, 28, will sign a two-year contract worth approximately $5 million, with about $1.5 million in guarantees.
The Texans and Panthers also were interested in Ramsey, who recently was released by the Jets after only one season with the team. Ramsey will become the backup to Denver second-year pro Jay Cutler, and he ostensibly replaces Jake Plummer in that role.
Jets And Bears Finalize Jones Trade
The Chicago Bears confirmed that they have traded running back Thomas Jones to the New York Jets for a second-round draft pick.
The Bears acquired the 37th overall pick and sent the 63rd selection to New York in a deal that was agreed to on March 5.
Jones gives the Jets the No. 1 running back they've been seeking since Curtis Martin -- who is expected to retire -- was sidelined a year ago by knee problems. And his departure from Chicago gives Cedric Benson the opportunity to carry the load at running back.
Sources: Chicago Trades Jones To Jets
According to league sources, the Bears have agreed to trade RB Thomas Jones and a 2007 second-round pick (No. 63 overall) to the Jets for a 2007 second-round pick, No. 37 overall, which was acquired previously in a trade from Washington, ESPN.com's Michael Smith reported.
Cotchery Inks Extension With Jets
Jerricho Cotchery, who had a breakout year with the New York Jets last season, signed a multiyear contract extension with the team.
Cotchery set career highs with 82 catches, 961 yards receiving and six touchdowns while starting every game for the Jets last season.
"This was the perfect time to get something done," he said during a conference call. "I didn't want to try to do anything during the season where you're thinking about tons of things. It allows me to continue to just focus on football."
Jets Release Blaylock, Hamilton
The Jets released Derrick Blaylock and Bobby Hamilton on Wednesday, a person familiar with the moves told The Associated Press.
The moves came two days before the NFL's free agency period was set to begin. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because the team hadn't yet announced the moves.
Michael L. Huyghue, Blaylock's agent, said the veteran running back could still return to the Jets during the offseason.
