Feeley Breaks Hand In Eagles' Loss To Jets

May 17, 2014 10:00 PM

The starters watched from the sidelines and the backups barely did anything to warrant more playing time. In a game decided by third-stringers and guys who'll be looking for jobs in a few days, Mike Nugent kicked a 35-yard field goal as time expired, lifting the Jets over the Eagles 13-11 on Thursday night. Quarterbacks Donovan McNabb and Chad Pennington didn't play and most starters for both teams sat out. A.J. Feeley, McNabb's backup, broke a bone in his left hand, but whether he will miss any action is uncertain.

Redskins Land LG Kendall From Jets

Oct 31, 2014 6:12 AM

The New York Jets ended months of acrimony and bickering with starting left guard Pete Kendall on Thursday, trading the disgruntled 11-year veteran to the Washington Redskins for an undisclosed middle-round draft choice. The deal came after an offseason in which Kendall, upset about his contract, did not take part in any of the Jets' voluntary activities, and in which he railed against management. One of the game's most candid players, and unafraid to speak his mind, Kendall went public with his grievances over the contractual dispute. After accepting a salary reduction last year, Kendall sought to have his compensation for this season, scheduled at a base salary of $1.68 million, increased by $1 million. Jets officials, though, steadfastly declined to renegotiate. Kendall claimed that the Jets had reneged on a promise to readjust his salary again if he performed well in 2006.

Jets Trade Kendall To Washington?

Sep 30, 2014 1:31 PM

The Jets were on the verge last night of trading disgruntled left guard Pete Kendall to an undisclosed team, NFL sources told the Daily News. Multiple teams expressed an interest once the Jets made it clear they wanted to move Kendall, 34, a starter for the Jets since he arrived in 2004. Kendall is expected to receive a new contract, and it's believed he will earn at least $2.7 million for the coming season. He was due to make $1.7 million from the Jets and was seeking a $1million raise, but they refused to renegotiate his deal, which had three years and $6.1 million remaining. In return, the Jets will get an undisclosed draft choice. ProFootballTalk is reporting that Kendall will be dealt to the Redskins.

Pennington, Jets Struggle Mightly Against Vikes

Sep 20, 2014 3:00 AM

Eric Mangini could not have slept well last night - if he slept at all. Sure, the Jets' 37-20 loss to the Vikings last night before an apathetic, sparsely populated Giants Stadium crowd was merely a preseason game. Sure, two weeks still remain before their Sept. 9 regular-season opener against the Patriots. Nevertheless, progression is expected at this time of year, and the Jets, who have prided themselves in the Mangini era as a well-prepared, well-focused team that doesn't beat itself, went backward with last night's putrid performance. "It's obviously very disappointing," said an agitated Mangini, who hinted strongly that a grueling week of practice lies ahead. "If anyone has the impression that it's OK because this is preseason, they're wrong."

Jets Finally Reach Agreement With 1st Round Pick

Sep 20, 2014 3:09 AM

A marathon Tuesday night session that included intense negotiations, and a little noshing, finally concluded in a Wednesday evening agreement between the New York Jets and first-round draft choice Darrelle Revis. The University of Pittsburgh cornerback, who was the 14th player chosen overall in April, missed 21 days of training camp and 23 practice sessions. The Jets had hoped to have the deal completed in time for their Wednesday afternoon practice, but fell short of that goal. Details of the contract were not immediately available.

Jets' Jones Injures Leg

May 20, 2014 8:50 AM

The optimism following the first preseason victory was shattered early in Sunday's practice when running back Thomas Jones suffered what appeared to be a lower leg injury, quite possibly to his right calf or Achilles tendon. Though the injury was not severe enough to keep him from walking off the field under his own power or participating in cardio and strength exercises with other injured players for the remainder of the practice, it is undoubtedly a subject of concern for the Jets, who acquired Jones from the Bears in an off-season trade. Jones was expected to become a mainstay in the Jets' backfield. In Friday's preseason game, he ran the ball eight times in the first 12 offensive snaps.

Will Speedy Stuckey Catch On With Jets?

Sep 20, 2014 3:09 AM

Chansi Stuckey pulled his jersey and pads over his head and walked over to the crowded bleachers. A few dozen Jets fans were waiting after practice for their favorite players to sign hats, footballs and anything else they could get their hands on. "Chansi! Chansi!" a few young fans shouted. "Over here!" After one solid preseason game, people already know who Stuckey is -- even without his No. 83 jersey on. They might also get used to seeing the rookie wide receiver making plays on the field for the Jets.

Washington Keys Jets' Victory

May 18, 2014 6:42 AM

After the Atlanta Falcons scored a first-quarter touchdown in last night's preseason game at Giants Stadium, Leon Washington gave the New York Jets a spark. Washington fielded the kickoff and weaved up the left side of the field for 86 yards before being knocked out of bounds at the 8. His sprint was a quick answer to Atlanta's drive and set up the Jets' first touchdown in their 31-16 victory. "The easy part is just running through," Washington said. "The way it opened up, all 10 guys made their blocks." Quick to defer credit, Washington was the all-over-the-place threat he started to become in his surprising rookie season in 2006, when he started eight games at running back and led the Jets with 650 rushing yards. Last night against the Falcons, he had 30 yards rushing and 13 receiving while proving to be an effective substitute for injured Pro Bowl kick returner Justin Miller.
