Mara Hopes For Agreement Before Season

Jun 16, 2014 3:09 PM

Giants president and CEO John Mara says he's trying to remain positive even though he isn't sure whether the impasse between the NFL and its players will ultimately interrupt the 2011 season. "There is no guarantee that it [the season] is not going to be affected but I remain optimistic because I believe that we can make a deal that is fair for both sides," Mara told Ryan Ruocco and Robin Lundberg on ESPN 1050. "I don't think the players are interested in missing games and missing paychecks. Certainly the owners don't want to see that happen. I think as we get through the summer and closer to training camp, it would be hard for me to believe that we are not able to sit down and negotiate a fair deal because there is enough money out there for everyone. It is just a matter of how it is allocated."

Antonio Pierce Rips Barber

Aug 6, 2014 1:57 AM

Former Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce has been highly critical of old teammate Tiki Barber. After four years out of football, Barber wants to return to the field. "Tiki Barber the football player . . . great player, will be very productive in certain situations," Pierce said. "Third down, maybe to help out a young quarterback and some young running backs, depend on who it is. "Tiki Barber the person? The leader? The person in that locker room? He?s not going to do anything for your team. Now if that?s the guy you think you?re bringing in, you might want to look in another direction, because from personal experience, he didn?t do anything to help the Giants the last year, especially 2006 when he decided to retire in the middle of season, and then months later kind of questioned our quarterback and our head coach at the time, Coach Coughlin. That?s my problem with Tiki Barber, but the guy can play. Can he do it four years later? I don?t think he can."

Tiki Barber Coming Out Of Retirement

Sep 12, 2014 9:57 PM

Tiki Barber has filed papers to come out of retirement and try to revive his NFL career, according to the running back's agent. Barber, who turns 36 in April, hasn't played since the 2006 season with the Giants. Tiki's brother, Ronde, recently signed a one-year deal for his 15th season with the Buccaneers. "After seeing my brother still have fun at our age, it reignited the fire," Tiki Barber told FOXSports.com. "I'm really looking forward to the challenge of seeing if I can get back to the level of where I was. I started working out again recently. It kind of shocked myself. I still had a lot of the strength I had before. I'm really looking forward to making a return."
