Outgoing Jaguars Owner Says He Should Have Never Fired Coughlin

Dec 6, 2014 5:06 AM

Outgoing Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver is in a reflective mood these days. He will hand over the ownership reigns to Illinois businessman Shahid Khan on Jan. 4. "Look at the first eight years with (then-head coach) Tom Coughlin. It was our most successful time, but we didn't do everything right and I learned a lot from him. ... "If hindsight you could change, I'll be honest with you: I probably would have never changed Coughlin," the Weaver said. "I would have tried to have Tom take a step back and just be the coach. I thought about it, but I didn't think Tom would do it. I thought Tom's pride would never allow him to take a step back and me take the general manager's position."

Lawrence Taylor Will Be 'Shocked' If Giants Don't Beat Cowboys

Oct 31, 2014 9:47 AM

Lawrence Taylor fully expects his Giants to defeat the Cowboys on Sunday night with the NFC East title and a playoff berth on the line. "If the Giants lose this game I would be shocked," Taylor said. "I don't think it's even a question that the Giants are a better team than Dallas. "I know you think I'm biased, but the Giants have by far the better athletes, they are tougher mentally, and they have by far the better coaching. I guarantee you that Dallas ain't taking s--- away from the Giants. If the Giants lose this game, they'll lose it themselves. Dallas won't take it away from them."

Justin Tuck Still Hates Cowboys

Oct 31, 2014 4:29 PM

Less than a week before the two teams battle it out for the NFC East title and a playoff berth, Giants defender Justin Tuck made it clear that he despises the Cowboys. "I've been quoted many times saying I hate the Dallas Cowboys, and I still do," Tuck said. "A lot of it's out of respect," Tuck added on Monday. "I think when you look at all of the history, all of the great players, the championships won, I think the two teams are probably more similar than a lot of people like to admit."

Jacobs and Ryan exchanged heated words on the field after the final whistle, with Jacobs reportedly telling Ryan, "Time to shut up, fat boy!" among other choice bon mots. Ryan was fined $75,000 by the NFL for a confrontation with a fan at halftime of the Jets' 37-16 loss to the Patriots in Week 10.

Jacobs, Rex Ryan Trade Words

May 18, 2014 7:14 AM

The Giants and Jets continued to trade words after Saturday's game at their shared home in New Jersey. Giants running back Brandon Jacobs and Jets head coach Rex Ryan exchanged words on the field after Jacobs helped lead his team to a 29-14 win. "We had a private conversation," Ryan said. "That's all I'll leave it as. He doesn't like me. I respect him, but I couldn't care less about him." Jacobs said he had an exchange with Ryan after the game in which the coach approached him, used an expletive and said, "Wait till we win the Super Bowl." Added Jacobs: "And I told him I'll punch him in the face." Jacobs told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio in an interview on the field right after the game that Ryan "is a very disrespectful (b------)." "I'm glad we came out here and gave it to him," Jacobs said. "I wish I got a chance to go over there on that sideline. He is disrespectful. I understand why (offensive coordinator Kevin) Gilbride and (Ryan's) pop (Buddy Ryan) got into it a long time ago because they all talk too much."

Oct 31, 2014 2:59 PM

The Cowboys could rest some of their players in Saturday afternoon's game against the Eagles if the Giants beat the Jets earlier in the day, according to sources. Dallas linebacker DeMarcus Ware, running back Felix Jones and defensive tackle Jay Ratliff could all be sidelined. If the Giants lose to the Jets, the Cowboys can win the division with a victory over the Eagles. But if the Giants win, the Cowboys can accomplish almost nothing Saturday.
