Andy Dalton has agreed to a one-year, $6 million deal with the New Orleans Saints to backup Jameis Winston.
Dalton spent last season with the Chicago Bears, starting three games.

Jameis Winston, Saints Agree To Two-Year, $28M Deal
The New Orleans Saints have agreed to re-sign Jameis Winston on a two-year deal with a base value of $28 million. The deal includes $21 million in guaranteed money.
Winston, 28, went 5-2 in his first year as a starter with the Saints last season, but he tore the ACL in his left knee and sustained MCL damage on Oct. 31.
Winston first joined the Saints in 2020 after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Tom Brady.
Winston signed another one-year deal with the Saints before the 2021 season that included $5.5 million in guarantees and up to $7 million in incentives after Brees retired.
Deshaun Watson Reduces List Down To Falcons, Saints
Deshaun Watson has narrowed his list of potential teams to the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints, eliminating both the Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers on Thursday.
The Houston Texans are preparing to trade Watson this offseason after his legal status made that an impossibility in 2021.
The Falcons have delayed a roster bonus for Matt Ryan until Monday in order to accommodate a potential trade for Watson.
Watson grew up in the Atlanta area and was a ballboy for the Falcons as a youth.
Deshaun Watson Expected To Meet With Panthers, Saints
Deshaun Watson is expected to meet with the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints within the next 48 hours, according to a report.
Watson reportedly wants to meet with teams interested in him before any trade talks progress.
Trade interest in the quarterback heated up last Friday when a grand jury did not indict Watson on any criminal charges related to accusations of misconduct raised by numerous women.
Saints Expect Michael Thomas Back Fully Healthy
The New Orleans Saints expect Michael Thomas to return to the field fully healthy in 2022.
"We're expecting to have Mike back," Mikey Loomis said. "His progress hopefully is going well, and the reports are that it's been going well. I know he is certainly motivated; Michael is always motivated, so that's not an issue. But Tre'Quan (Smith) is a free agent and Deonte Harris is an RFA (restricted free agent), so we've got some work to do to complete [the wide receiver] room."
Thomas missed the 2021 season with an ankle injury.
