Mankins Doesn't Expect To Return To Patriots

Jun 9, 2014 11:18 PM

Logan Mankins said earlier this week that all 32 teams will be in play to sign him, but a report suggests that he doesn't expect to return to the Patriots. Mankins feels as though the team isn't willing to lock him up to a long-term deal and says there hasn't been any talks on a new contract, according to the Boston Herald. "No, I wouldn't be happy about [a potential franchise tag], if that's what they chose to do, to be dealt that kind of hand," Mankins said Thursday. "But we'll see what happens."

Mankins Won't Rule Out Return To Pats

Oct 15, 2014 7:20 PM

Logan Mankins is set to become a free agent and while he is expected to leave the Patriots, the offensive lineman says that's not a certainty. "Oh yeah," he said when asked about returning to New England. "There are 32 teams in play. Whatever one I feel is the best situation for me. "There's always a possibility (for the Patriots). But to tell you the truth, I haven't given it much thought right now. If there was a CBA, I?m sure I'd be thinking about it a lot more."

Welker Regrets Foot-Related Comments

Jun 23, 2014 2:46 PM

Patriots receiver Wes Welker told the Boston Herald that he regrets his subtle dig at Jets coach Rex Ryan, which got him benched for the first series of his team's playoff loss to New York. "Yeah, sure I do," Welker, who mentioned feet several times in a press conference two weeks ago, told the Herald. "I'm not going to get into any details about it, but I don't think it's worth putting coach [Bill Belichick] in that situation," he said. "So in a sense, I do regret it. ... As much as you might want to get enticed into that stuff, at the end of the day, it's just not worth it." Belichick benched Welker for the team's first offensive possession of the game as punishment for the zinger, though the receiver did field a punt before New England's offense took the field for the first time.

Brady Is Unanimous Choice For All-Pro Team

Jun 23, 2014 2:48 PM

Tom Brady was the leading vote-getter for The Associated Press 2010 NFL All-Pro Team, the seventh straight year at least one player has gotten every vote. Three years ago, when Brady set the league record for touchdown passes, he missed by a half-vote of being unanimous, sharing a ballot with Brett Favre. "I've been here for a while, so I've seen our offense evolve," Brady said. "We do some different things now than we've done in the past. Ultimately we're still trying to do the same thing, which is be productive and win games." Brady won 14 games as the league's leading passer and went a record 335 attempts without an interception. Overall, he threw for 36 touchdowns and had just four picks.

"There are so many crazy things, when you look back, about Tom having an injury and me getting my chance," Cassel said Thursday. "It's really weird."

Was Brady Injured Against Jets?

Oct 31, 2014 6:06 AM

WEEI's Dennis and Callahan in Boston are citing two different sources that claim Tom Brady was dealing with a foot injury on Sunday against the Jets. Brady reportedly either came into the game with the injury, which one source labeled as a fractured foot, or suffered it during New England's playoff loss. The quarterback said on Monday he didn't think his exit physical would go well. The hosts of the AM radio show stressed that the news is "unconfirmed." Tom Curran of Comcast Sports New England notes that Brady's foot issue first popped up in November, but that all indications are that he was fine in he playoff game.

Revis Tells Patriots To 'Move On'

Jul 8, 2014 9:03 PM

Darrelle Revis thinks New England's Deion Branch just needs to move on. Branch called some of the Jets "classless" for their postgame celebration after Sunday's 28-21 upset win over the Patriots in the divisional round of the playoffs. "Just take the loss like a man, just take it like a man. And move on," Revis said on Monday afternoon. "[The Patriots] do stuff as well. I don't know who was doing it or whatever, but if so, whatever. "If they would have won, I'm sure they would have probably did ... the taunting, like they do. Last game we played them, their secondary was doing the 'airplane' [a Jets celebration] and just teasing us. So you've got to take it both ways when you win or lose. When you play, just try to prove people wrong and win the game, that's all I can say."
