Agent: Mankins Made No Demands

Oct 16, 2014 11:28 PM

The agent for Logan Mankins, Frank Bauer, broke his silence on Thursday. In an interview with ESPN, Bauer claimed Mankins never made any financial demands as one of the 10 plaintiffs in the Brady vs. NFL lawsuit. The agent was adamant the All-Pro guard never demanded any special considerations or concessions as part of the settlement. "I think it's really unfair what has happened to Logan Mankins in media characterizations that he is making monetary demands or holding up a settlement," Bauer told ESPN. "Logan Mankins is a young man who was encouraged and solicited into a lawsuit to help the union spearhead a new agreement. Logan's main concern for entering into as a plaintiff was to see if he can become free and help other players have less restrictions. For people to say he has made monetary demands, he hasn't made any such demand. We don't know terms. We haven't talked to Jeff Kessler. There has been no communication, but it's irresponsible to report Logan has made monetary demands. "Are we disappointed there has been no communication? Hugely. He trusted the union and Kessler to fight for Logan Mankins and the other players."

Kluwe Calls NFL Plaintiffs 'Selfish, Greedy'

Oct 9, 2014 5:19 PM

Vikings punter Chris Kluwe has pointed a finger at the players listed as plaintiffs in the player's antitrust suit against the NFL. Kluwe used Twitter to bash plaintiffs in the lawsuit who reportedly are pushing for compensation before settling the case, a power move that some speculate could delay the finalization of a new collective bargaining agreement. "Sigh, and once again greed is the operative byword," Kluwe posted under his Twitter handle, @chriswarcraft, on Tuesday. "Congrats Brees, Manning, Mankins, and Jackson for being 'that guy'. #douchebags." When reached Tuesday, Kluwe said he thought carefully about his tweet and simply expressed his feelings on the issue. "We're so close (to a new CBA), and to jeopardize it for something like that, it seems greedy and selfish," Kluwe said. "It paints players in a bad light. As far as I know, since it is a class-action suit, it's all of us that are being represented."

Jackson, Mankins Want Free Agency Or $10M

Oct 11, 2014 2:50 AM

The agents for Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson and Patriots guard Logan Mankins are demanding that their clients either become unrestricted free agents or receive $10 million as part of a settlement of the NFL antitrust case. Jackson and Mankins are among the 10 plaintiffs in the suit and have been designated franchise players by their respective teams. Both opted to sit out much of the 2010 season after failing to reach long-term agreements with their respective teams. Jackson skipped the first 10 games of the season, returning in Week 12. Mankins held out for the Patriots' first seven games and was selected to the Pro Bowl for his performance in the remaining nine.
