The Carolina Panthers have called the Minnesota Vikings about a trade for Kirk Cousins, according to a report.

Cousins has a fully-guaranteed salary of $35 million for 2022 and a cap number in Minnesota of $45 million. It's the last year of his deal, and the franchise tag for 2023 would cost more than $60 million.

The Vikings have said that, as of now, they have no plans to trade Cousins.

Kirk Cousins should be the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings in 2022.

Speaking at his introductory press conference on Thursday, new coach Kevin O'Connell said he anticipates Cousins will continue to be the team's quarterback despite questions surrounding his future.

"Well, I know he's under contract and I'm excited to coach him," O'Connell said. "We've already started thinking about how we're going to build those systems for him and our other quarterbacks and really the tremendous skill group that we have, our guys up front. It takes all 11 to move the football on offense, to run it, to throw it, to score points in the red zone. But I'm anticipating Kirk being a part of what we do."

Deshaun Watson has begun evaluating potential landing spots with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Minnesota Vikings on his list.

Watson has a no trade clause in his contract and will look for the right blend of offensive system, coaching, talent and the chance to win.

Watson preferred the Miami Dolphins at last year's trade deadline, but no move was consummated. The Dolphins hired Mike McDaniel to replace Brian Flores and appear to be committed to Tua Tagovailoa. 

Watson's defense of 22 civil cases alleging sexual assault and/or inappropriate behavior during massage sessions remains unresolved. 

The Minnesota Vikings are expected to hire Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell as their next head coach.

The deal can't be completed until after the Rams face the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.

O'Connell, 36, has served under Sean McVay for the past two seasons.

Jim Harbaugh has informed Michigan he will remain at Michigan for the 2022 season despite interviewing for the Minnesota Vikings.

Harbaugh told athletic director Warde Manuel that this would not be a recurring issue and that he would be staying at Michigan as long as the school wants him.

Kevin O'Connell, offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams, has emerged as the favorite for the job.

Harbaugh did not receive an offer from the Vikings before he left. Harbaugh had been planning for his interview with Minnesota as if he was going to be hired by the Vikings and prepared his exit from the Wolverines' football program by speaking with recruits about the possibility of his return to the NFL. 

"He operated under the assumption that the job was his and prepared for the interview as such," wrote Courtney Cronin on Twitter.

Jim Harbaugh will meet with the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday in what will lead to him being named the team's new head coach, according to a report.

It's worth noting that the interview is scheduled for college's national signing day.

According to the report, Harbaugh wasn't in his Michigan office on Tuesday. He didn't address the team, but he reportedly said some "goodbyes" and "thank yous" on Monday.
