The New England Patriots have agreed to a one-year deal with Mike Gesicki that is worth up to $9 million, according to sources.

Mike Gesicki will pair with Hunter Henry at tight end for the Patriots, who traded Jonnu Smith to the Atlanta Falcons earlier this week.

Bill Belichick has long admired Gesicki, saying in recent years: "He's a hard guy to cover. Long. Crafty route runner. He can get down the field. Very good hands. Makes some acrobatic catches, has enough quickness to separate. He's really, I would say, more of a big receiver than a true tight end, but he functions a little bit in that spot."

The Miami Dolphins have locked up their stable of running backs.

Jeff Wilson, Jr. is staying in Miami on a two-year deal that has a max value of $8.2 million, according to a source.

Raheem Mostert is also returning on a two-year deal worth $7.6 million with incentives, per his agent.

Wilson and Mostert were previously teammates with the San Francisco 49ers, where Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel was the offensive coordinator.

The Los Angeles Rams have agreed to trade Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins for a third round ick in 2023 and tight end Hunter Long.

Ramsey tweeted his excitement for the trade Sunday, writing: "I prayed for this specifically for about a month & now it's happening! @MiamiDolphins LETSGO!"

The Rams pulled off a blockbuster trade for Ramsey in 2019, sending first-round draft picks in 2020 and 2021 and a fourth-rounder in 2021 to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Los Angeles signed Ramsey to a five-year, $105 million contract extension less than a year later.

By trading Ramsey before June 1, the Rams will take on $19.6 million of dead money on their 2023 salary cap with $5.6 million of cap savings.

The Miami Dolphins have picked up their fifth-year option on Tua Tagovailoa.

Tagovailoa set career highs in passing yards, touchdowns, completion percentage and passer rating last season, leading the league in that last one. 

Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel have publicly committed to Tagovailoa starting for the Dolphins in 2023 on multiple occasions since the season ended.

The Miami Dolphins will not pursue Lamar Jackson this offseason, according to a report.

In addition, reports have also put the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers out of the mix for Jackson.

Jackson received the non-exclusive franchise tag from the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday, which allows him to negotiate with other teams. The Ravens will have the chance to match any offer sheet and if they decline any such offer, they would receive two first-round picks.

The Miami Dolphins plan to release Byron Jones on March 15, allowing the cornerback to enter free agency, according to sources.

The cornerback will be designated a post-June 1 cut, which will save the team $13.6 million in 2023.

He will represent an approximate $10 million cap hit in 2024, however.
