Tyreek Hill More Than Halfway To 2,000 Yards Through Eight Games

Oct 30, 2023 9:37 AM

Tyreek Hill is more than halfway to his goal of 2,000 receiving yards this season through eight games.

The Miami Dolphins wide receiver surpassed 1,000 yards in the team's win over the New England Patriots on Sunday.

He's the first player to eclipse the mark this season and the fourth player in NFL history to do so in just eight games.

"It feels great. God is great. I've been calling my shot since I came in this league," Hill said. "A lot of people doubted me, saying I couldn't do this and do that, but it's all about believing in yourself."

At a rate of 126.8 yards per game, Hill is on pace for 2,155 receiving yards this season -- which would set an NFL record and make him the first 2,000-yard receiver in league history.

Several Dolphins Annoyed About 'Hard Knocks' Filming

Oct 27, 2023 8:48 AM

A number of Miami Dolphins' players are annoyed about the filming involved with the team's appearance on "Hard Knocks" during this season.

The show will begin following the Dolphins after their Nov. 5 game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Germany.

"'Hard Knocks' is bullshit, especially during the season," Xavien Howard said. "No, I'm serious. I'm not a fan."

Several other players had similar responses when asked about the situation.

"This isn't something that's for me. This is something for the entire team and the entire team has to figure out how they go about that as well," Tua Tagovailoa said. "So I know having conversations with some guys in the locker room that for them, it's going to be tough as well."

Mike McDaniel acknowledged that "Hard Knocks" could be a possible distraction, but he doesn't expect it to create a negative situation.

Tyreek Hill Says He's 'Good,' Will Play Against Patriots

Oct 27, 2023 8:44 AM

Tyreek Hill returned to practice with the Miami Dolphins Thursday after missing the previous day's session with a hip injury.

He was officially listed as a limited participant, but the wide receiver said he'll play against the New England Patriots on Sunday.

"I just wanted some attention, because my momma wouldn't talk to me yesterday," Hill said. "So, I needed some attention from somebody. I'm good, though."

Hill has not missed a game since the 2020 season. He leads the league with 902 receiving yards in seven games and is on pace for a career-high and NFL-record 2,190 receiving yards.

Tyreek Hill Misses Practice With Hip Injury

Oct 26, 2023 8:08 AM

Tyreek Hill did not practice Wednesday because of a hip injury, casting doubt over whether the wide receiver will be available for the Miami Dolphins on Sunday against the New England Patriots.

Hill hasn't missed a game since he was traded to the Dolphins in the 2022 offseason and is the NFL's current leader in receiving yards with 902.

He briefly left Miami's loss to Philadelphia this past Sunday night, but was able to return and finished with 11 catches for 88 yards and a touchdown.

"It was a little weird not having someone like Tyreek out there," Tua Tagovailoa said. "His leadership, his aura -- but it calls for other guys to step up. Jaylen [Waddle] had a really good practice today, [Cedrick Wilson Jr.] had a really good practice. A lot of guys had good practices today, especially being a Wednesday.

"I don't think anyone can emulate what Tyreek does on the field. His speed, his cuts in and out of breaks. ... If we couldn't have Tyreek, that would be tough, but the show goes on. You've got to continue to play, and somewhere down the line we're going to get Tyreek back. And it has to be one of those things where you never lift your foot off the gas and you don't lose that rhythm as a team or a unit."

Mike McDaniel: Losses Can Be Good If Approached The Right Way

Oct 23, 2023 8:55 AM

Mike McDaniel believes the Miami Dolphins can learn from Sunday night's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Dolphins entered the game with the league's best offense, far and away, but managed just 17 points and one offensive touchdown in the road loss.

"You can learn everything," McDaniel said of playing in a difficult environment and losing.

"It was a very important thing. I kind of knew that going into the game that it was going to be that type of atmosphere and I think that's very important for our team being on the younger side to experience. Those are critical. You have to feel what it's like to play such a good team on the road. Your margin for error is so small, and it's an important building block along your progression for the season, you know. If you're going to lose games, you want it to be against a really good team, and you want it to hurt. The collection of coaches and players in the locker room right now are hurting because they feel like they left some plays on the field for sure. You know, losses, if approached the right way, if you're not pointing fingers and you're looking internally, can be a good thing too. So that's what we'll be determined to make this moving forward, starting with tomorrow."

Mike McDaniel Snaps When Asked About Tua Tagovailoa's Success

Oct 19, 2023 9:05 AM

Mike McDaniel wasn't happy when a reporter asked the Miami Dolphins coach how much of Tua Tagovailoa's success this season can be attributed to the team's offensive system.

The Dolphins are 5-1 and Tagovailoa is part of the early MVP conversation.

"I'm about to push this podium over," McDaniel said when a reporter suggested that many quarterbacks would have similar success in his system. "My answer to that would be who the F cares, because it is a team, we're working together, and I know one thing. I've coached a long time, I haven't seen people do what our guys do. ... To their credit, to their ability and their commitment to their craft.

"As a teammate, we're all dependent on each other. I'm not in any hurry to prove myself without those guys, because those are part of who we are. To say it's this person or that person is kind of missing the point. It is a team working together, people working together. Myself, Tyreek Hill, Tua, cool, but what if no one's blocking anyone? You know what I mean? We're all connected in that way. That's why, I think, a lot of the guys ... Tua's success in their success, Tyreek's success, Waddle's, Raheem's etc.

"We're all tied together," McDaniels continued. "It's a journey that we're experiencing together. Somebody will get the statistics from it, but none of those statistics are worth anything if you don't have a full support from your players across the board, all 11, and then it goes down to the organization and all those things combined. But I know this, our players run a lot of plays that I have a lot of history with, and it looks different, and that's because of hard work and unbelievable abilities."

Tyreek Hill Wants PI Yards Credited To Wide Receivers

Oct 12, 2023 9:39 AM

Tyreek Hill recently proposed on his podcast that the NFL should bring back replay reviews of pass interference penalties, and that when pass interference is called, the yardage should be credited to wide receivers.

"You know there used to be a rule where you could challenge a defensive pass interference," Hill said. "That used to be a rule, I believe two years ago, and they took that rule away. I don't know why they took it away. They used to have that rule where if there was a pass interference, the coach could challenge it."

Pass interference was reviewable during the 2019 season as a response to outrage over a missed call in the 2018 NFC Championship Game. It was implemented as a one-year policy and wasn't brought back in 2020.

"I think they should definitely bring that back," Hill said. "Bring that back, and once it's a pass interference, just add those receiving yards to my yardage."

De'Von Achane Undergoing Evaluation For Knee Injury

Oct 10, 2023 8:17 AM

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane is being evaluated for a knee injury, according to Mike McDaniel.

The severity is yet to be determined. McDaniel declined to say whether the rookie would miss time or was undergoing an MRI.

Achane suffered the injury during Sunday's victory against the New York Giants, although the coach declined to specify exactly when it occurred.

"When I don't know, I literally don't spend any time forecasting either way," McDaniel said. "It's just because we're getting more information. But I find it trivial to even forecast until I get all the information. So I really don't know."

Achane ran for 151 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries against the Giants, his third straight game with at least 100 rushing yards and a TD.
